Summary
MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist on behalf of our utility client. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced procurement professional who has managed the full procurement lifecycle for pipeline infrastructure materials and enjoys owning sourcing strategies from initial planning through supplier negotiations and purchase order management.
Working closely with engineering, supply chain, and project teams, you'll act as the commercial lead for pipeline commodity procurement, building supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, managing procurement risk, and ensuring critical materials are delivered to support major infrastructure projects.
Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Responsibilities

Own the full procurement lifecycle for pipeline infrastructure commodities, including natural gas pipe, valves, fittings, and related materials.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, commercial bid evaluations, and supplier negotiations.
- Coordinate technical evaluations with engineering teams and translate technical requirements into effective commercial sourcing strategies.
- Manage supplier negotiations, contract terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial risk.
- Serve as the primary owner of purchase orders within assigned categories, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity within SAP.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance and resolving commercial issues.
- Prepare and present spend analysis, supplier performance metrics, market intelligence, and cost driver analysis to leadership.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop proactive sourcing strategies to support project delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, and project management to ensure procurement activities align with project schedules.
- Continuously identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier improvements, and process optimization.
