Job description

Our client is a leading provider of engineered mechanical building solutions serving the commercial construction industry throughout Western Canada. The organization partners with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, developers, architects, and building owners to deliver technically advanced HVAC and mechanical systems for new construction and major retrofit projects.

With a reputation for technical expertise and customer-focused project execution, the company provides application engineering, equipment selection, project management, logistics coordination, commissioning support, and aftermarket service for complex mechanical building systems. Their solutions are utilized in commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, industrial operations, public infrastructure, mixed-use developments, and other technically demanding environments.

As the organization continues to experience strong project growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of multiple mechanical construction projects from equipment release through project closeout.

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of commercial mechanical construction projects. Working closely with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, manufacturers, field personnel, and internal technical teams, you will coordinate project planning, equipment selection, procurement, manufacturing releases, scheduling, logistics, startup activities, commissioning support, financial performance, and customer communication.

This position requires exceptional organizational skills, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to balance multiple projects while delivering an outstanding customer experience and maintaining technical accuracy throughout every phase of construction.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Lead multiple commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from project award through commissioning and closeout.
  • Develop and manage project schedules utilizing the company's CRM platform and construction management software to ensure milestones and customer commitments are achieved.
  • Prepare accurate project estimates utilizing estimating software and manufacturer selection tools.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, mechanical schedules, and engineering documentation to verify project scope and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate release of engineered mechanical equipment for manufacturing.
  • Manage project budgets, procurement activities, freight logistics, contract administration, forecasting, change orders, and overall project financial performance.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement, manufacturing timelines, shipping, delivery, startup scheduling, commissioning activities, and project closeout documentation.
  • Collaborate with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, manufacturers, field technicians, commissioning agents, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution.
  • Conduct project meetings, equipment inspections, and coordinate field startup activities while maintaining project schedules.
  • Utilize Bluebeam, CRM software, and other project management tools to maintain accurate drawings, documentation, communication records, and project workflows.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, contractual obligations, quality standards, applicable building codes, and company procedures.
  • Proactively identify project risks and develop practical solutions that maintain project profitability and customer satisfaction.

Technical Coordination

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and mechanical schedules to ensure selected equipment aligns with project requirements and design intent.
  • Coordinate equipment selections, engineering revisions, substitutions, and manufacturing releases throughout project execution.
  • Utilize manufacturer selection software and engineering tools to assist in the proper application and sizing of mechanical HVAC equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding equipment applications, system compatibility, installation requirements, and overall project performance.
  • Collaborate closely with consulting engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and internal application specialists to resolve technical questions throughout the construction process.
  • Remain current on emerging HVAC technologies, energy‑efficient building systems, sustainability initiatives, and evolving industry standards to provide informed technical recommendations.

Customer & Commercial Support

  • Serve as the primary project contact throughout the execution of awarded projects, providing timely communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Support Outside Sales Representatives by assisting with equipment selections, quotations, project transitions, and ongoing customer requirements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding project status, technical information, scheduling, and product applications.
  • Process quotations, purchase orders, change orders, and project documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed customer, project, and opportunity records within the company's CRM platform.
  • Develop strong working relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, developers, manufacturers, owners, and internal teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution, strengthen customer relationships, and support future business opportunities.

  • 3‑7+ years of project management experience within commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, engineered building systems, construction, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems, HVAC applications, construction processes, and engineered building systems.
  • Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, engineering specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience utilizing Bluebeam, CRM platforms, and project management software.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, procurement, logistics coordination, budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and project financial management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects.
