Senior Workplace Tech Administrator

Salary: $90,000 - 110,000 per year

Requirements:

• We bring at least 10 years of experience in an MSP, IT consultancy, or senior internal IT environment, with strong hands-on infrastructure delivery.
• We have deep Windows Server administration expertise, including builds, migrations, decommissions, patching, backup systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• We possess solid networking knowledge, including managed switching and routing, VLANs and segmentation, VPNs, and multi-site connectivity troubleshooting.
• We have experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure.
• We ideally have exposure to regulated clients and external IT audits.
• We may be familiar with tools such as HaloPSA and NinjaOne, or similar platforms.
• We hold, or are willing to pursue, relevant certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801, MS-102, MD-102, Network+, CCNA, Fortinet NSE 4, Security+, AZ-500, SSCP, or ITIL 4 Foundation.
• We have experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning, including BIA participation and backup schedule design.
• We have a reliable vehicle and an active Class 5 drivers licence.
• We are eligible to work in Canada and can successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities:

• We lead end-to-end infrastructure projects, including server replacements, migrations, and decommissions, covering planning, build, cutover, and validation.
• We schedule and complete specialized maintenance windows, including after-hours work such as patching, backup reconfiguration, and cutovers, while keeping clients informed.
• We track project hours accurately, manage scope carefully, and escalate when work exceeds budgeted time or defined boundaries.
• We diagnose and resolve complex network problems across multi-site environments.
• We rebuild and document poorly documented networks and IT environments so they can be transitioned and supported effectively.
• We serve as the technical contact for carriers and vendors, including VPN, ISP/telco, and hardware providers.
• We act as a senior escalation point for hardware, server, VPN, Microsoft 365, Azure, and infrastructure issues.
• We guide on-site technicians and field engineers with remote support direction.
• We resolve recurring root-cause issues by implementing durable fixes rather than short-term ticket closures.
• We configure and support Microsoft 365 and Azure workloads in a senior capacity.
• We manage endpoint and policy settings through Group Policy and MDM/RMM tools.
• We act as a trusted technical advisor for client CIOs and IT managers.
• We communicate clearly and proactively about maintenance, findings, and risks through written channels and direct stakeholder conversations.
• We work within audit and compliance requirements, producing documentation that serves as a valid audit record.
• We follow client-owned processes for change control, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• We handle privileged access and credentials responsibly in line with regulatory expectations.
• We maintain accurate time entries and support Campfires ticketing, time recording, and service management processes.
• We work independently in complex, under-documented environments while documenting our findings as we go.
• We travel to client sites in Southern Manitoba and participate in occasional after-hours or weekend maintenance, including on-call coverage.
