ROM is seeking a collaborative and solutions-oriented Specialist/HR Business Partner, Employee & Labour Relationsto join our Human Resources team.

Reporting to the AVP, Human Resources, you will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees across the Museum, providing expert guidance on employee and labour relations matters in a unionized environment.

From navigating complex workplace issues and interpreting employment legislation and collective agreements to supporting organizational initiatives that strengthen workplace culture, you'll play an important role in helping ROM foster an engaged, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, providing expert guidance on employee and labour relations matters while promoting fair, consistent, and legally compliant workplace practices.

Partner with leaders to proactively resolve complex workplace issues, manage cases effectively, and foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

Interpret employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies to support informed decision-making and mitigate organizational risk.

Support labour relations activities by coordinating Labour Management meetings, assisting with collective bargaining processes, and maintaining accurate documentation and records.

Strengthen organizational capability by developing and delivering training, resources, and tools that enhance leadership effectiveness and support positive employee experiences.

Improve HR operations by maintaining Employee & Labour Relations processes, systems, and reporting, ensuring accurate documentation and meaningful data that supports informed decision-making.

Coordinate key Human Resources initiatives, including attendance management, alternative work arrangements, learning and development programs, and the Job Review Committee process.

Contribute to a collaborative Human Resources team by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, supporting departmental priorities, and helping advance ROM's people strategy.

WHAT YOU BRING Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CHRP designation or actively working toward completion is preferred.

  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee and labour relations in a unionized environment.

Solid knowledge of employment legislation, human rights legislation, and collective agreement interpretation.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations matters with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.

Strong relationship-building and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and support leaders at all organizational levels.

Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, documentation, presentations, and meeting materials.

Strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), preferably Dayforce or a similar platform.

A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement, confidentiality, and the delivery of exceptional client service.

French language proficiency is considered an asset.

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT START DATE: August 2026 OPEN DATE: July 10, 2026 CLOSE DATE: July 24, 2026 STATUS: Full-time Contract EMPLOYEE GROUP: Non-Union EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $78,903 - $92,827 SCHEDULE: 35 hours weekly PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Six (6) months LOCATION (onsite): Toronto, ON WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS Initial conversation: A 30-minute virtual conversation** with a Recruiter to discuss your interest in the role and ROM and how you can make an impact.

First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team.

This in-depth interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.

Second interview: A 1-hour in-person meeting with the Hiring Manager and relevant team members.

You may be asked to present a pre-assigned case study and discuss scenarios relevant to your role.

Depending on the position, you might also be given a tour of ROM and receive a preview of your responsibilities and interactions.

Third Interview: a final interview with key stakeholders.
