HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Software Engineer - Autonomy Behavior ML Data Optimization Team to build and optimize the data pipelines and software platforms that power machine learning workflows for autonomous driving.

In this role, you’ll develop scalable data pipelines, backend services, and user-facing tools that support dataset creation, embedding search, and ML data optimization. While primarily focused on backend and data engineering, you'll also contribute to frontend features that improve workflow management and user experience.

The ideal candidate is a strong Python engineer who thrives in data-intensive environments and enjoys building scalable systems that support machine learning and large-scale data processing.

As a Software Engineer - Autonomy Behavior ML Data Optimization Team, you'll:
  • Design, build, and maintain Airflow pipelines that orchestrate end-to-end dataset creation, refresh, and management workflows.
  • Develop scalable Python/FastAPI services supporting embedding search, bulk operations, and dataset management.
  • Build and optimize distributed data processing pipelines using Ray for embedding generation, clustering, FAISS index creation, cache generation, and large-scale dataset processing.
  • Improve pipeline reliability, observability, and performance through monitoring, optimization, and operational tooling.
  • Develop dashboards and visualization tools that provide insight into datasets, pipeline health, and system performance.
  • Contribute to React-based administrative tools and workflow management features that improve dataset management and search capabilities.
  • Partner with ML researchers and cross-functional engineering teams to integrate new embedding technologies and deliver scalable software solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on data engineering, distributed processing, or pipeline development
  • Strong Python experience building production data pipelines and backend services using FastAPI or similar frameworks
  • Experience designing and operating distributed data processing pipelines using technologies such as Ray, Spark, Databricks, AWS EMR, or AWS Batch
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
  • Experience building data visualization tools and working with SQL and large-scale datasets
  • Familiarity with vector search and indexing technologies such as FAISS, Annoy, ScaNN, or Milvus
  • Experience with AWS services, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization for data-intensive applications
  • Familiarity with React.js or another modern frontend framework
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with machine learning engineers, data engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience with machine learning concepts, including embeddings, clustering, similarity search, or model serving
  • Experience integrating large language models (LLMs) or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows
  • Experience building production Airflow pipelines, metadata management systems, or dataset registries
  • Familiarity with observability, CI/CD, Bazel, or production monitoring tools
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other large-scale sensor data platforms
  • Full-stack development experience building end-to-end data applications and administrative tools
