Job description

Overview

Job Skills / Requirements

  • Assist in the administration of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for multiple states.
  • Review and audit payroll information to ensure accuracy before processing.
  • Compile and prepare payroll related reports and remittances after each payroll run
  • Process payroll tax withholdings and ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific tax and labor requirements.
  • Administer wage garnishments, child support orders, and other involuntary deductions.
  • Manage payroll adjustments and off-cycle payments including final pays.
  • Assist in processing new hires and terminations including final pays.
  • Complete benefit administration and payments.
  • Assist with year-end activities including preparation of W2’s and 1095’s.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate information – personnel files.
  • Respond to enquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Troubleshoot issues for appropriate resolutions.
  • Liaise and collaborate with various departments on special projects.
  • Other duties as required, filing/scanning etc.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) from the Canadian Payroll Association is preferred
  • Knowledge of US payroll laws, tax regulations and wage and hour requirements.
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Working knowledge of WinTeam Solutions
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and MS Outlook
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Eager to learn and ability to apply newly acquired skills for immediate results
  • Ability to solve problems, multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
