Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, the Technologist Assistant under the direction of the on-duty technologist of the assigned modality will perform tasks related to the departmental operation in an organized and efficient manner. This position supports the activities of the Diagnostic Imaging Department by performing a variety of support functions. The Technologist Assistant will work as part of the DI team to ensure efficient workflow and will be accountable to provide support to both patient and the technologist.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma/G.E.D. required.
• MRI Safety Level 1 Personnel Training preferred (provided upon hiring: online and on-site).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be physically able to perform all assigned tasks.
• Must be available for all shifts.
Job Duties:
• Greet, identify, and prepare patients for Diagnostic Imaging procedures using proper patient identification and screening protocols.
• Explain imaging procedures, preparation instructions, and obtain required consent and screening information from patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members regarding exam preparation and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with MRI and Diagnostic Imaging safety standards.
• Prepare imaging rooms, accessory equipment, intravenous stations, and contrast materials under technologist supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness, infection prevention standards, linen supplies, oxygen/suction equipment, and departmental stock levels.
• Provide post-exam patient assistance, including navigation and discharge support following procedures.
• Adhere to hospital policies, provincial legislation, infection prevention protocols, WHMIS, AODA, and PHIPA requirements.
• Support overall departmental operations by assisting in all assigned areas and performing related duties as required.
• This position involves standing, frequent walking, Portering and transportation requirements, including use of patient transfers and lifting equipment, must be able to lift up 30-40 lbs as per job demands analysis.
Salary: $25.41 – $27.48, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
