Team Overview:

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

Within DTS, the Digital Platform Delivery & Architecture (DPDA) group plays a critical role by enabling the business through secure, scalable, and fit for purpose digital platforms.

The Platform Owner, Automation Platforms is accountable for the end-to-end health, strategy, and value realization of EDC’s enterprise automation and workflow platforms. Working closely with the Automation COE, business leaders, architecture, security, delivery teams, platform owners, and vendors, this role ensures the platforms are fit-for-purpose, scalable, secure, and compliant—facilitating the delivery of tangible operational and customer outcomes.

This role owns the vision, roadmap, governance, and support operating model for the automation platforms, developed in close collaboration with the business arm of the Automation COE and relevant platform teams. For ServiceNow (CSM, App Engine, and Workflow Data Fabric), this role acts as the module owner and works jointly with the ServiceNow Platform team to align on platform standards, lifecycle management, and shared roadmap decisions. Platforms in scope include:

  • UiPath
  • ServiceNow CSM, App Engine, and Workflow Data Fabric (module ownership in partnership with the ServiceNow Platform team)
  • Microsoft Power Platform
  • Supporting Azure-based integration and automation services (in partnership with the Integration Platform team)

The Platform Owner works in close partnership with the Business Enablement team and the joint Automation Centre of Excellence (COE) to identify, qualify, and prioritize automation opportunities across the enterprise. This role ensures that the platform strategy is aligned with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), workflow automation, and intelligent automation use cases and enterprise standards.

Acting as a central point of coordination, the Platform Owner establishes and enforces delivery lifecycle gates, governance controls, and architectural guardrails, enabling delivery teams and partners to move quickly while maintaining quality, reuse, and scalability across platforms.

This is not a people management role, it is a product style ownership role with clear accountability for platform outcomes.

What you will be doing:

Platform Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Define and own the enterprise vision and multi‑year roadmap for intelligent automation and workflow platforms
  • Align platform capabilities to EDC’s business priorities, transformation initiatives, and operating model
  • Balance run, grow, and transform demands while managing technical debt and platform sustainability

Cross Functional Enablement & COE Partnership:

  • Partner with Technical Leads, Developers, BAs, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are designed and delivered in line with platform standards.
  • For ServiceNow CSM enable effective intake, prioritization, and sequencing of work across multiple teams and domains.
  • Working with the Tech Lead, ensure strong release management, lifecycle management, and production support models are in place.
  • Work closely with the Business Enablement team and joint Automation COE to assess, shape, and size RPA and workflow automation opportunities
  • Working with Enterprise Architecture, ensure automation use cases are appropriately qualified for the right platform (UiPath, ServiceNow, Power Platform, or hybrid solutions)
  • Help to maintain the operating model for citizen development, including enablement, controls, and support
  • Ensure appropriate guardrails exist to enable innovation without compromising security or maintainability
  • Promote reuse, standard patterns, and platform literacy across the organization

Governance, Decision-Making & Lifecycle Management:

  • Establish and enforce platform governance, standards, and guardrails.
  • Act as the final decision authority for platform design choices, customization vs configuration, and onboarding of new use cases.
  • Ensure platform changes align with enterprise architecture, security, and risk requirements.
  • Represent the platform in architecture reviews, governance forums, and executive discussions.
  • Ensure developers, squads, and vendors adhere to the defined delivery lifecycle, including design reviews, security and risk assessments, testing standards, and release approvals
  • Enforce lifecycle gates across automation and workflow solutions to ensure quality, resilience, and maintainability
  • Balance enablement with control, ensuring teams can move quickly without bypassing governance

Platform & Architecture Collaboration:

  • Work in close collaboration with other platform owners and platform teams (e.g., Salesforce, integration platforms, data platforms) to ensure:
    • Alignment to enterprise architecture standards
    • Consistent integration patterns and data contracts
    • Coordinated roadmap planning and dependency management
  • Represent intelligent automation platforms in cross platform planning, design, and governance forums

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Own strategic relationships with platform vendors and implementation partners
  • Evaluate new features, releases, and emerging capabilities to determine business relevance
  • Act as the primary platform contact for senior business and technology stakeholders

GenAI & Advanced Automation Alignment:

  • Partner with the Automation COE and GenAI COE to evaluate and enable AI augmented automation use cases, including:
    • Intelligent document processing
    • Decision automation
    • Agentic and human in the loop workflows
  • Ensure GenAI capabilities are integrated into automation platforms in a controlled, secure, and value driven manner
  • Define guardrails and decision criteria for when and how GenAI is applied within automation solutions

What we are looking for:

  • Post‑secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with enterprise automation, workflow, or low code platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a platform owner, product owner, or technical product lead.
  • Strong hands-on understanding of:
    • UiPath;
    • ServiceNow CSM, App Engine, and Workflow Data Fabric;
    • Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Enterprise architecture principles;
    • Integration patterns and APIs;
    • Security, risk, and compliance in regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with pragmatic decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

What will make you stand out:

· Experience working within or alongside an Automation COE or enterprise enablement function.

· Proven ability to govern automation delivery across multiple teams and vendors while maintaining delivery velocity.

· Experience integrating GenAI capabilities into enterprise automation platforms within defined risk and governance frameworks.

· Strong understanding of platform governance models and value-based prioritization.

· Experience enabling and governing citizen development programs.

· Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
