Job Title: Senior Unix/Linux & Oracle Developer

Location: Toronto, ON Hybrid

Mode: Full-time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Unix/Linux & Oracle Developer with 8-15 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux administration, Shell Scripting, Oracle Database, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL. The ideal candidate should possess strong Linux / database development skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support applications running on Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Develop and enhance Shell Scripts for process automation, monitoring, scheduling, and operational efficiencies.
  • Create, optimize, and maintain Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and views.
  • Perform Oracle database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Support production applications, investigate incidents, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor application health and proactively resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with business users, developers, DBAs, and infrastructure teams to deliver solutions.
  • Participate in release deployments, system upgrades, and environment support activities.
  • Prepare technical design documents, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

Unix/Linux

  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix commands, file systems, permissions, process management, and job scheduling.
  • Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Shell Scripting
  • Extensive experience in Shell Scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, Bourne Shell).
  • Ability to develop reusable automation scripts and support batch processing.
  • Experience in debugging and performance tuning shell scripts.
  • Oracle Database
  • Strong experience with Oracle Database Administration concepts and application support.
  • Knowledge of Oracle architecture, performance tuning, backup/recovery concepts, and database troubleshooting.

Oracle SQL & PL/SQL

  • Expert-level SQL query development and optimization.
  • Strong experience in:

  • Experience with large-volume data processing and ETL support.
