Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Senior Engineering Manager to join our client's rail operations team. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of track infrastructure while supporting network efficiency and operational excellence.
In this role you will lead engineering and maintenance teams, oversee capital programs and budgets, drive safety initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance across a designated territory.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management
  • Lead and develop Track Supervisors, Assistant Track Supervisors, Managers, and Maintenance of Way (MOW) employees
  • Support employee performance, talent development, succession planning, and workforce engagement
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Labor Relations to resolve workforce and grievance issues
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture and reduce workplace injuries and incidents
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and safety programs
  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing track-related incidents and operational risks
  • Monitor and improve key safety performance indicators
Capital Projects & Budget Management
  • Manage operating and capital budgets for the assigned territory
  • Oversee capital improvement projects to enhance infrastructure reliability and productivity
  • Analyze track conditions, inspection data, and rail reports to identify maintenance priorities
  • Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining service and safety standards
Operations
  • Support responses to derailments, service disruptions, and emergency situations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate incidents and implement preventative solutions
  • Ensure network availability and support operational performance goals
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of railway industry experience
  • Minimum 6 years of track maintenance or engineering experience
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing budgets, capital programs, and operational performance
  • Knowledge of railway engineering standards, maintenance practices, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational systems such as SAP is considered an asset
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
