Terminal Coordinator to join our client's Intermodal Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 transportation environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily fluidity and operational performance of an intermodal terminal. You will ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of freight by coordinating terminal resources, managing workforce productivity, supporting the trucking community, and driving compliance with operational procedures and safety standards. The successful candidate will provide leadership to both unionized employees and management teams while maintaining exceptional service levels and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities: Safety & Compliance Management - Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture throughout terminal operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety regulations.
- Monitor daily safety performance and conduct ongoing safety observations.
- Recognize and reinforce safe work practices through positive feedback and coaching.
- Address safety concerns, rule violations, and non-compliance through appropriate corrective actions.
- Conduct coaching sessions, investigations, and formal performance discussions as required.
- Support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and corporate safety objectives.
Terminal Operations & Productivity - Oversee the daily fluidity and performance of terminal operations.
- Plan equipment placement and allocate resources to support efficient loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trains.
- Monitor terminal productivity and operational performance metrics.
- Coordinate the movement and utilization of terminal assets, including:
- Reach stackers
- Gantry cranes
- Shunt trucks
- Hitch trucks
- Ensure trains are unloaded and loaded efficiently to support on-time arrivals and departures.
- Optimize equipment utilization and terminal workflows to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Manage inbound and outbound train activity using multiple operational systems and planning tools.
Workforce Leadership - Lead, coach, and support a diverse workforce consisting of unionized employees and management personnel.
- Coordinate workforce activities while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and operational requirements.
- Support employee onboarding, training, mentoring, and development initiatives.
- Communicate operational goals, process improvements, and performance expectations.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment focused on safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Customer & Trucking Operations Support - Ensure timely and efficient service for customers and the trucking community.
- Monitor terminal traffic and trucking activity to minimize driver wait times and terminal dwell periods.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve service issues and operational challenges.
- Support the delivery of reliable and responsive intermodal transportation services.
Qualifications and Skills: - Post-secondary degree or diploma in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license required.
- First Aid Certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an operations, transportation, logistics, terminal, or industrial environment.
- Experience leading large unionized workforces.
- Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Experience supervising employees in safety-sensitive or safety-critical roles.
- Experience within transportation, railway, logistics, supply chain, intermodal, or terminal operations is considered a strong asset.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and employee development abilities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.

- Understanding of Safety Management principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including:
- Knowledge of operational planning, resource allocation, workforce management, and process improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of business management principles related to operations, productivity, and strategic planning.
- Knowledge of intermodal terminal operations and transportation logistics is considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
