Kelly Services is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Corporate Controller / Director of Accounting based in Markham, Ontario. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a well-established company in the construction and real estate development industry.
This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both strategic financial leadership and hands-on involvement in project accounting and financial reporting.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Oversee project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting for development projects
- Prepare and review project proformas, budgets, and financial analysis
- Manage banking relationships, lender reporting, construction draws, and financing requirements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA, Tarion, and other regulatory requirements
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Support audits, internal controls, and continuous process improvements
- Lead and mentor the accounting team while partnering with senior leadership to support business decisions
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a leadership role within real estate development, construction, or another project-based industry.
- CPA designation (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and lender reporting
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Newstar, Jonas, or similar
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting salary: $120,000 annually (based on experience)
