Senior Accountant job opening in Hamilton, OntarioA large established North American consumer services organization is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its collaborative finance team in Hamilton, Ontario. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting business operations through accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant job opening in Hamilton, Ontario may include, but are not limited to:- Manage and maintain assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries as part of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Complete balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and investigate variances as required.
- Analyze financial data and prepare supporting documentation for accounting entries.
- Maintain detailed working papers and supporting schedules in accordance with accounting policies and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and execution of internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial information and support operational initiatives.
- Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects within the finance department.
- Support audit requests and other compliance-related activities as required.
Qualifications for the Senior Accounting job opening in Hamilton, ON- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA certification a strong asset.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; experience from public accounting firms and audit is a strong asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience working with cloud-based ERP systems and financial data analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, x- and v-lookups and complex data manipulation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Exposure to U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Previous experience supporting audits and compliance initiatives.
