Job description
Senior Backend Developer Contract (3–6 Months) | Hybrid (4 Days Onsite) | Greater Toronto Area If you're the type of developer who enjoys solving complex backend challenges, improving system performance, and building scalable integrations, this opportunity is worth exploring. We're partnering with a well-established Canadian organization undergoing several exciting technology initiatives. As part of a collaborative applications team, you'll help modernize enterprise systems, improve the flow of data across business platforms, and develop reliable backend solutions that support thousands of users. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, optimize performance, and contribute to projects that have a real business impact. What You'll Be Working On Your work will focus on designing and enhancing backend applications that power critical business operations. Day to day, you'll:
  • Develop and maintain backend applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Build APIs and integrations that allow enterprise systems to communicate efficiently.
  • Design and optimize SQL Server databases to improve performance and scalability.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement long-term technical solutions.
  • Support cloud-based initiatives using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, deployments, and continuous improvement initiatives that help maintain high development standards.
What Makes You Successful We're looking for someone who enjoys working in complex enterprise environments and has a passion for building reliable, scalable backend solutions. You'll likely bring:
  • Extensive experience developing applications with C# and .NET.
  • Advanced SQL Server skills, including writing and optimizing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure Functions, App Services, and Azure SQL Database.
  • Experience working with Git, Azure DevOps, and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Experience While not required, we'd love to see experience with:
  • Enterprise document management or content management platforms, such as iManage.
  • Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Factory.
  • Power BI and data reporting solutions.
  • Financial or professional services applications.
  • Large enterprise or highly regulated environments.
