Our Client: Join a cornerstone of Ontario's construction industry with over +25 years of delivering complex, large-scale projects across the GTA and surrounding regions. This vertically integrated organization operates across multiple business units spanning specialized construction services, crane rental, and logistics - supporting high-rise residential, commercial, and institutional projects. They operate in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that demands strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and disciplined execution. If you're an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and wants to be part of a growing organization, this is a compelling opportunity.
The Role: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Finance team in a hands-on, high-impact capacity, reporting to the Corporate Controller. This is a net new addition to the team driven by organizational growth - not a backfill. You'll support the full accounting cycle across multiple operating entities, own key reconciliations and reporting deliverables, and play an active role in project accounting, intercompany accounting, and audit support. If you bring construction or manufacturing accounting experience, strong month-end close skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal direction, we'd love to tell you more.
Key Responsibilities: - Partner with the Corporate Controller on month-end and year-end close, managing the full-cycle accounting process across multiple entities
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare journal entries and adjustments in accordance with ASPE and GAAP
- Support year-end review and audit requirements, providing organized documentation and working papers
- Maintain Capex and Opex records including fixed assets, capital leases, operating leases, and equipment costs
- Own inventory accounting and support inventory adjustments and physical counts
- Support intercompany reconciliations and drive resolution of loans, cross charges, and intercompany invoicing
- File HST returns, manage related account reconciliations, and support other regulatory filings and audits as required
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support the Controller in managing the project lifecycle from a financial perspective
- Monitor project accounting including budget vs. actual tracking, variance investigation, and financial reporting
- Review project labor, expenses, and subcontractor costs to ensure accuracy and proper cost coding
- Provide guidance and review support to junior team members as needed
Qualifications: - +5 years of progressive accounting experience
- CPA designation completed or in progress strongly preferred; strong relevant experience will be considered
- Background in construction, contracting, or manufacturing environments is a significant asset
- Solid experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and full-cycle accounting
- Hands-on experience with project accounting, cost accounting, Capex/Opex, and inventory
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and comfortable handling confidential financial information
What Our Client Has to Offer: - Competitive salary ranging from $80,000–$105,000 based on experience and qualifications
- Discretionary bonus eligibility
- Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, LTD, and life insurance - 100% company paid up to 80% coverage
- Full-time, on-site role based in Brampton, ON (Monday–Friday, 9–5)
- A stable, growing organization with a strong project pipeline and ambitious expansion plans
