How you’ll make an impact

Cyber security work is dynamic, complex, and increasingly connected to business priorities. We’re looking for a collaborative, agile-minded Product Owner who can bring structure to this work and keep teams focused on the highest-value priorities.

As a Product Owner, you’ll help the Cyber Security team balance operational demands with technical projects and longer-term capability planning. You’ll manage a dynamic backlog, support planning and delivery coordination, facilitate prioritization discussions, and translate technical and operational needs into clear, actionable work.

You’ll work closely with cyber security teams, technology partners, other Product Owners and business stakeholders to manage dependencies, communicate progress, support roadmap planning and operationalize new practices, processes and capabilities.

You don’t need to be a cyber security specialist, but you should be comfortable working with technical teams, asking good questions, organizing complex work and helping teams make practical decisions in a fast-moving environment.

This role may be a strong fit if you have experience as a Product Owner, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Business Analyst, delivery lead, team coordinator, or technology operations lead, especially if you enjoy bringing structure to ambiguous work and helping teams make clear decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Create, maintain and prioritize a transparent product backlog that supports cyber security operations, technical and process enhancements and project delivery
  • Create, maintain and prioritize a transparent backlog that supports cyber security operations, enhancements, process improvements and project delivery
  • Align backlog priorities to team objectives, cyber security capability needs, product strategy and FCC’s broader business priorities
  • Coordinate work related to security incident response, identity and access management, and other cyber security capabilities
  • Support lightweight project planning, including milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, readiness activities and stakeholder communications
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint or cycle planning, prioritization discussions, retrospectives and stakeholder working sessions
  • Work with technical teams, stakeholders and other Product Owners to clarify requirements, manage dependencies and keep work moving
  • Translate operational and business needs into user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, prototypes or other delivery artifacts
  • Communicate priorities, progress, risks and decisions clearly for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support the operationalization of new practices, processes, controls and technical capabilities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping the team plan, prioritize, reflect and adapt

What you’ll bring to the team

Required qualifications:

  • A degree in computer science, business administration or a related field and at least eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience managing or coordinating product, project, operational or team backlogs in an agile or iterative delivery environment
  • Strong understanding of agile principles and practices, including backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint or cycle planning, retrospectives and release readiness
  • Project management or delivery coordination experience, including planning work, managing dependencies, tracking risks and supporting progress reporting
  • Experience working with technology teams and translating business, operational or technical needs into clear requirements, user stories or delivery priorities
  • Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to negotiate priorities and influence without formal authority
  • Ability to manage competing demands while staying organized, composed and focused on business value
  • Comfortable preparing status updates and communicating priorities, progress, risks and decisions to stakeholders at different levels

Preferred qualifications:

  • Product Owner (CSPO, PSPO) or Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP) or related agile/project management certification
  • Experience supporting cyber security, information security, risk management or other technology risk capabilities
  • Experience helping operationalize technology changes, including related practices, processes, controls, readiness activities or support models
  • Experience using agile or work management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar platforms
  • Experience supporting roadmap planning, release planning, dependency management or cross-team delivery
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Not sure you meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway.
