Maintenance Technician Victoria

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our client, a leading real estate owner, developer, and property manager, to support a mixed-use portfolio in Victoria, BC. Responsibilities

• Complete day-to-day maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, drain clearing, and associated piping.
• Complete minor electrical work within scope, including lighting, switches, outlets, fixtures, and ballasts (up to 120V).
• Carry out drywall repairs, painting, flooring touch-ups, basic carpentry, millwork, door repairs, and hardware replacements.
• Inspect building mechanical, electrical, life safety, and security systems, reporting deficiencies as required.
• Assist with preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, hydronic systems, pumps, valves, and other building equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee external contractors while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Prepare suites for occupancy, including turnovers, repairs, and coordinating required trades.
• Perform regular building and grounds inspections, maintaining common areas, parkades, loading bays, and exterior spaces.
• Support waste management, recycling, seasonal snow removal, and general site cleanliness.
• Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, contractor documentation, and work order systems.
• Respond to emergency situations, participate in fire safety procedures, and complete incident reporting.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one week per month).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in building or facilities maintenance.
• Experience performing general repairs including plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, and hardware repairs.
• Comfortable working with building mechanical systems and coordinating service contractors.
• Basic understanding of HVAC, hydronic systems, BAS/DDC systems, or similar building automation systems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, tenants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence.
