As a Senior Epidemiologist at Cancer Care Alberta, you will be a crucial member of the Precision Analytics team, working under the guidance of the Program Lead. You will contribute to large-scale applied analytics projects that address critical issues in cancer care. The role requires a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing your advanced scientific expertise in epidemiology and biostatistics to expand our capacity to apply cutting-edge analytic techniques. Your work will ultimately generate evidence and tools for more efficient operational planning, ensuring that cancer patients have timely access to care at Cancer Care Alberta. You will work with a high degree of independence, and in concert with the Program Lead, to design and implement the epidemiology components of Precision Analytics projects. In collaboration with other scientists on the team, the Senior Epidemiologist interprets stakeholder needs, and translates them into well-defined analytic objectives. You are responsible for developing study designs and sampling strategies that account for data limitations. You will apply your comprehensive understanding of bias and confounding to select input data for machine learning (ML) or traditional statistical models, to ensure the validity of the work produced by Precision Analytics, and to maintain ethical standards of data use for ML. Leveraging your robust foundation in biostatistics, you will apply advanced analytical techniques to non-ML components of Precision Analytics projects, and interpret complex results to draw valid and actionable conclusions. Preferred Qualifications:3-5 years experience working with cancer data. Understanding of ML concepts (non-technical or technical)
