Mechanical & Cooling Commissioning LeadThe Mechanical & Cooling Commissioning Lead is responsible for commissioning mechanical and cooling systems serving the data centre, including chillers, CDUs, pumps, CRAHs/CRACs, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and any liquid cooling infrastructure. This role owns L2/L3 and mock-run L4 testing for mechanical systems and ensures they perform as designed under realistic load profiles and integrated scenarios, particularly for high density AI deployments.
What You Will Be Working On
Plan and execute L2/L3 mechanical tests: installation verification, flushing and cleaning, pressure/leak testing, start‑ups, and initial functional checks.
Mock-run L4 functional performance tests for cooling systems: flow rates, ΔT performance, redundancy behavior (N+1), component failover, load ramping, and transient behavior.
Validate mechanical modules and skids fabricated in the shop once installed on site, confirming performance under real operating conditions.
Coordinate with Controls/BMS Lead to ensure mechanical sequences of operation are implemented and testable, with correct alarms and trends.
Contribute to L5 scenario execution involving cooling (e.g., power events with cooling impact, partial plant failures, high‑density thermal ramps).
Document tests, issues, and resolutions consistently in partnership with the Cx Program & Data Engineer.
Provide mechanical commissioning input to operations teams to support clean handover and future seasonal testing.
What We Are Looking For
Strong background in data centre or mission‑critical mechanical/cooling systems, including central plant and room‑level cooling.
Proven experience leading mechanical commissioning, TAB/FPT, or performance validation on large MEP projects.
Ability to understand and challenge mechanical sequences of operation and system designs, focusing on testability and resilience.
Comfortable diagnosing issues during tests and driving corrective actions across design, vendor, and construction teams.
Clear communication and documentation skills, able to explain mechanical behavior and risks to non‑mechanical stakeholders.
7+ years in mechanical commissioning, TAB/FPT, or operations for data centres or similar mission‑critical facilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with ASHRAE commissioning guidance and large‑operator mechanical Cx requirements.
Experience with Cx platforms and data tools (CxAlloy, Procore, Facility Grid).
Relevant certifications (PE, CxA, BCxP, TAB/NEBB, etc.) are an asset.
