Position Overview
The Nutrition Specialist position is full time (40-hours per week) and is eligible for all BGC Saskatoon benefits (Health & Dental, Retirement Savings Plan, paid sick leave etc.) after a 3-month probationary period. The Nutrition Specialist's primary responsibility is to work with children and staff in the development of healthy lifestyles and to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the BGC Warman Early Learning Centre (90 space centre).
Wage is dependent on experience. Applicants who also possess a valid early childhood education certification from Saskatchewan may be eligible for an additional wage top up of 5.85-8.85 dollars per hour.
Minimum Qualifications:- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Early Childhood Education Level I Certificate (preferred, not required)
- Commercial kitchen experience (preferred, not required)
- Valid First Aid and CPR (within first 3 months of employment)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs

The Nutrition Specialist will: - Ensure the quality of the ELC by adhering to Provincial Licensing Regulations (which includes Health and Fire Regulations) as well as BGC Warman Policies and Procedures regarding cleanliness, menu development and food preparation.
- Work in a team-based environment with BGCM ELC Managers and Staff, BGCM Office Staff
- Assist in preparing weekly menus approved by the ELC Business Administrator and/or Pedagogical Lead ensuring Provincial Licensing Standards are met.
- Prepare grocery lists and shop for ingredients and additional supplies as needed on a weekly basis.
- Maintain pantry inventory
- Ensuring all food allergies/dietary restrictions are accounted for in food preparation
- Ensure meals and snacks are prepared in a timely manner and using food safety practices in all food preparation.
- Engage families regarding nutrition practices and cultural preferences
- Involve children in food preparation and routines
- Other duties as assigned.

Compensation
$32,364.80 - $49,212.80 per year
