Job Title: Airworthiness Manager
Job Description
The Airworthiness Manager leads the airworthiness function and oversees Technical Records and Maintenance Planning to ensure full regulatory compliance and the integrity of aircraft maintenance programs. This role manages fleet airworthiness in alignment with Transport Canada, OEM, and internal requirements, while driving process improvements, supporting long-term maintenance strategy, and collaborating with stakeholders to maintain fleet readiness and safe operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Airworthiness Department, including Technical Records and Maintenance Planning personnel, fostering a positive, accountable, and safety-focused culture.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and support staff development, and ensure alignment with organizational values and safety standards.
- Ensure the continued airworthiness of the fleet through strict compliance with all applicable regulatory, OEM, and internal company requirements.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and other applicable airworthiness regulations and standards.
- Evaluate, incorporate, and control all Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, including Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), repairs, and Engineering Orders (EOs) within the maintenance program.
- Oversee the development, accuracy, and control of aircraft maintenance programs to ensure they meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Provide long-term maintenance forecasting and oversee maintenance planning to support operational readiness, heavy maintenance scheduling, and fleet availability.
- Ensure work packages, planning data, and configuration control are accurate, complete, compliant, and aligned with maintenance program requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement of planning, forecasting, and program control processes to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
- Oversee technical records management to ensure all records are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and audit requirements.
- Ensure technical records systems support effective maintenance tracking, audits, and planning activities, including both electronic and manual record systems.
- Maintain the integrity of ERP/AMS platforms and other record systems, ensuring all maintenance, repairs, modifications, and inspections are properly documented and traceable.
- Manage airworthiness requirements related to aircraft acquisition, induction, bridging, leasing, export, and disposition, ensuring compliance throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
- Ensure aircraft records, configuration status, and compliance status are accurately maintained and updated during fleet transitions and changes.
- Coordinate closely with Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams to support fleet changes, ensure readiness, and address airworthiness issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to communicate airworthiness requirements, updates, and impacts on operations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders on airworthiness matters, regulatory changes, and maintenance program updates.
- Support the development and execution of long-term maintenance strategies that align with operational goals and regulatory obligations.
Essential Skills
- Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license or equivalent qualification.
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning, airworthiness, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and applicable airworthiness standards.
- Proven experience in aircraft maintenance programs, technical records management, and configuration control.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams within an aviation maintenance or airworthiness environment.
- Strong planning, forecasting, and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex maintenance programs and schedules.
- Experience using ERP or Aviation Management Systems (AMS) to manage maintenance planning and technical records.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
- Ability to interpret and apply OEM documentation, regulatory requirements, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and compliance in all maintenance and record-keeping activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Ramco ERP/AMS or similar aviation maintenance management systems is an asset.
- Background in leading or contributing to process improvement initiatives in maintenance planning or technical records.
- Experience managing airworthiness aspects of aircraft induction, leasing, export, and disposition.
- Exposure to heavy maintenance planning and long-term fleet maintenance forecasting.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams.
- Strong analytical skills to assess maintenance data, compliance status, and program performance.
- Capability to develop and implement procedures and controls for configuration management and technical records.
- Experience supporting regulatory audits and demonstrating compliance through robust documentation and systems.

Work hours generally follow structured business schedules, with flexibility required at times to support operational needs, maintenance events, and fleet transitions. The work setting emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and adherence to established procedures, with a focus on maintaining accurate records and robust maintenance planning processes.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
