Overview
We are seeking an experienced Java/Scala Developer to join a fast-paced engineering team supporting applications within a Capital Markets environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, hands-on Scala experience, and expertise building scalable applications using Spring Boot. Candidates should be comfortable working with databases and writing SQL queries while collaborating in an Agile environment.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- 7+ years of experience with Java
- 4+ years of hands-on Scala development experience
- Strong experience developing applications using Spring Boot
- Experience designing and developing RESTful services and microservices
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL querying
- Ability to write efficient queries and perform data analysis/debugging as needed
- Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working within Agile development teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Trading platforms or Front Office applications
- Capital Markets experience
- Banking or Financial Services experience
- Experience with event-driven or distributed systems
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and containerization tools
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Scala applications
- Build and enhance microservices using Spring Boot
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions
- Develop and optimize database queries to support application functionality
- Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions
- Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions
