Job descriptionWe are a family based in Russell, Ontario, looking for a compassionate, reliable, and engaging support worker/nanny to join our family. This is a live-out, part-time position with flexible hours, offering $21/hour. We are seeking someone who has experience supporting autistic individuals, embraces inclusion in all aspects of life, and has a positive, affirming outlook toward the LGBTQ community. We value kindness, respect, acceptance, and creating an environment where everyone feels they belong. More important than years of experience is finding someone who is present, patient, enthusiastic, and ready to build a genuine connection with our young adult daughter, Audrey, as she continues developing her independence and working toward her personal goals. Audrey is a kind, caring young woman with Level 1 autism who enjoys spending time with friends, helping others, singing, shopping, and exploring her community. She thrives with consistency, encouragement, and a predictable routine. We are looking for someone who is interested in building a meaningful, long-term relationship with Audrey. We hope to find a support worker who will take the initiative to plan enjoyable activities, encourage new experiences, and create a monthly activity calendar that reflects Audrey’s interests, goals, and growing independence. Every second Friday, Audrey loves planning a fun social outing with her support worker—whether that’s going for coffee, shopping, attending community events, trying a new activity, or spending time with friends. Every second Wednesday, she attends singing lessons, and part of the role includes driving her to and from her lesson while helping maintain the calm and consistent routine that allows her to thrive. Responsibilities * Build a trusting, respectful, and supportive relationship with Audrey. * Plan and organize meaningful community activities and maintain a monthly activity calendar. * Support outings that promote independence, confidence, friendships, and everyday life skills. * Encourage Audrey to participate in planning activities, making choices, and trying new experiences. * Provide transportation to community activities, including singing lessons every second Wednesday. * Support Audrey in maintaining routines while remaining flexible and encouraging. * Occasional overnight support is welcomed but not required. Qualifications * Experience supporting autistic or neurodivergent individuals is strongly preferred. * Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. * Current CPR and First Aid certification. * Positive, dependable, organized, and compassionate. * Comfortable supporting a young adult in building independence while respecting her autonomy. * Someone who enjoys being active in the community, planning activities, and having fun. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting neurodivergent adults in living full, meaningful, and connected lives. If you’re interested in becoming an important part of Audrey’s journey toward greater independence while sharing lots of laughs and memorable experiences along the way, we’d love to hear from you. Please send us a message telling us a little about yourself, your experience, and why you think you’d be a great fit for our family.
