Job description
Position Summary
Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a champion with significant management and leadership experience to join our Physician Quality department.

Reporting to the Director, Physician Quality, Specialist Services (SSC) and Shared Care Committee (SCC), the Leader, Specialist Services Committee/Shared Care will support engagement between physicians and Northern Health through the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of initiatives or strategies that are financed by the SSC/SCC. SSC/SCC strategies may include but are not limited to, supporting physicians’ prototypes and projects that enhance coordination of care for patients with complex and longitudinal care needs and/or supporting specialists as leaders in quality improvement and innovation. Additional accountability for deliverables will be to the Specialist Services and Shared Care Committees.

Both SSC and Shared Care are Joint Clinical Committees which represent a partnership between Doctors of BC and the Government of BC. Primary SSC/Shared Care initiatives linked to Northern Health include the Physician Quality Improvement Initiative, Spreading QI Initiative, Health System Redesign, Leadership Scholarship, and Facility & Community Engagement.

Starting salary will be approximately from $90,770 to $113,462 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in a discipline related to health, business, or economics and 5 (five) years’ experience in managing complex projects.
•Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset.
• Experience in quality improvement methodologies an asset.
• Experience working with physicians, health care providers and support staff an asset.
• Experience in implementing change management strategies an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced project management, problem solving and budgeting skills required.
• Knowledge of the BC health care system and health authorities an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adept at balancing major concurrent tasks and projects with attention to detail, and is proactive and solutions-oriented.
• Excellent judgment in setting priorities, identifying issues and determining action required when working under pressure and deadlines.
• MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Analytical Thinking—the ability to comprehend a situation by breaking it down into its components and identifying key or underlying complex issues to systematically organize and compare the various aspects of a problem or situation.
• Planning, Organizing and Coordinating—the ability to proactively plan, establish priorities and allocate resources. Ability to develop and implement increasingly complex plans. Ability to monitor and adjust work to accomplish goals and deliver to the organization's mandate.
• Building Partnerships with Stakeholders—the ability to build long-term or on-going relationships with stakeholders, demonstrating a respect for and stating positive expectations of the stakeholder.
• Initiative—ability to identify a problem, obstacle or opportunity and take appropriate action to address current or future problems or opportunities.
• Teamwork and Cooperation—ability to work co-operatively within diverse teams, work groups and across the organization to achieve group and organizational goals, including the desire and ability to understand and respond effectively to other people from diverse backgrounds with diverse views.
