Job Title: Millwright / Maintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Millwright / Maintenance Technician maintains and improves all plant machinery and equipment through troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. This role works in a multi-skilled environment to reduce production disruptions, support the commissioning of new equipment, and ensure safe and efficient plant operations while collaborating closely with the Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and perform regular maintenance on all plant machines and equipment.
- Execute both planned and reactive maintenance work to minimize production downtime.
- Commission new equipment and ensure it is installed, tested, and integrated safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment to improve reliability and extend asset life.
- Operate within a multi-skilled environment to maintain plant machinery while continuously improving maintenance processes.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out mechanical repairs, including work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems, drives, bearings, and gears.
- Use machine tools such as bench grinders, lathes, drilling machines, and milling machines to fabricate parts required for repairs and to maintain production equipment.
- Assist the Engineering team in developing preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and execute and maintain these programs on an ongoing basis.
- Set up, organize, and maintain a safe and well-structured maintenance shop.
- Perform daily general housekeeping in the work area to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the plant through adherence to maintenance best practices and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to develop bills of materials (BOMs) for equipment and maintain an appropriate spare parts inventory.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records in the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Support and achieve maintenance department business, quality, and safety goals.
- Follow all human resources, environmental health and safety, and company policy requirements.
- Complete special projects as required from time to time, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Travel domestically as needed for training and equipment procurement.
- Maintain and keep current all relevant professional designations and licenses.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support maintenance and plant operations.
Essential Skills- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical repairs, including drives, bearings, and gears.
- Proficiency in welding for repair and fabrication tasks.
- Ability to operate machine tools such as bench grinders, lathes, drilling machines, and milling machines.
- Certified Industrial Mechanic (433A) or equivalent professional trade certification.
- Completion of secondary school and a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
- At least 4 years of experience working as a millwright in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Competence in maintaining accurate records in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and adherence to company policies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Counterbalance forklift certification and experience is considered an asset.
- Welding certification is an asset.
- Elevated work platform certification is an asset.
- Experience developing and maintaining preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with creating equipment bills of materials (BOMs) and managing spare parts inventory.
- Ability to travel domestically for training and equipment procurement when required.
- Strong organizational skills to set up and maintain a safe, orderly maintenance shop.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with Engineering and production teams.

Work Environment
This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with approximately 140 production staff. The maintenance team typically consists of one millwright and two helpers per shift, fostering close collaboration and teamwork. You will work on a variety of production machinery and equipment, using tools such as grinders, lathes, drills, and milling machines, as well as welding equipment and material handling devices. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with daily housekeeping expectations in the maintenance area. Work is performed on-site within a busy production facility, requiring appropriate industrial work attire and adherence to all safety and environmental health policies.
