Job description

ABOUT US

We’re one of Canada’s largest pension investors, with CAD$320.6 billion of net assets as of March 31, 2026.

We invest funds for the pension plans of the federal public service, the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Reserve Force. Headquartered in Ottawa, PSP Investments has its principal business office in Montréal and offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.

Capturing and leading complex global investments requires us to work as one to seize valuable opportunities, in close collaboration with some of the world’s top companies. At PSP Investments, you’ll join a team of motivated and engaged professionals, dedicated to propelling our organization further than ever before.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Strategic Communications and Global Government Affairs (SCGGA) team helps PSP Investments understand, anticipate and respond to public policy, stakeholder and government developments that may affect PSP's mandate, governance, investments and reputation. The team supports PSP's relationships with federal, provincial and international stakeholders and provides insight, advice and coordinated engagement across PSP's global investor footprint.

Within this team, the Global Government Affairs (Canada) function leads domestic government relations, parliamentary monitoring, policy intelligence and stakeholder engagement in Canada, while supporting PSP's statutory obligations and engagement with responsible ministers and public-sector stakeholders.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As an Advisor, Global Government Affairs (Canada), you will support the Director, Global Government Affairs (Canada), and the Senior Director, Global Government Affairs and Stakeholder Management, in advancing PSP's domestic government relations strategy. You will play a hands-on role in monitoring parliamentary and provincial developments, coordinating responses to formal government requests, developing policy intelligence products, and strengthening PSP's approach to stakeholder engagement tracking.

In this role, you will:

As an Advisor, Global Government Affairs, you’ll:

  • Support the Director on domestic government affairs strategy by contributing to the implementation and ongoing refinement of PSP’s domestic government affairs priorities, stakeholder mapping and engagement plans

  • Coordinate key domestic government relations processes by supporting responses to formal requests from responsible ministers, central agencies and other government bodies, ensuring alignment, accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness

  • Monitor and analyze policy developments across federal and provincial governments, with a focus on legislative, regulatory and political developments that may impact PSP’s mandate, governance, reputation, stakeholder environment or investment activities

  • Support provincial government affairs by contributing to jurisdiction-specific policy monitoring and analysis, stakeholder mapping and engagement activities

  • Prepare policy and briefing materials by drafting briefing notes, policy memos, Q&As, internal updates and other materials that translate government developments into practical insights for senior leaders, investment teams and corporate functions

  • Contribute to government affairs knowledge management by helping build, organize and maintain tools and resources such as policy libraries, stakeholder intelligence, jurisdictional files and recurring government affairs updates

  • Support key domestic engagement projects by assisting the Director with planning and coordination related to PSP’s statutory obligations, public-facing reporting and events, as well as other important government or stakeholder engagement milestones

  • Collaborate with internal partners by working with PSP teams to support domestic government affairs initiatives, ensure alignment and contribute to effective stakeholder engagement

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, law, international relations, communications, business or a related field

  • Four (4) to six (6) years of relevant experience in government relations, public affairs, public policy, parliamentary affairs, stakeholder management, strategic communications, consulting or a related environment

  • Strong understanding of Canadian federal parliamentary processes, machinery of government and policy development; knowledge of provincial governments in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta is a strong asset

  • Experience preparing briefing notes, policy analysis, Q&A documents, issue notes, stakeholder profiles, internal memos or executive-ready materials

  • Strong political acuity, judgment and discretion, including the ability to manage sensitive files, fast deadlines, and multiple approval processes

  • Excellent writing, editing and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex public policy or government developments into clear, practical and actionable insight

  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail and comfort maintaining trackers, records and structured repositories

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal partners, external consultants, government stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Experience using stakeholder relationship management systems, CRM tools or engagement-tracking platforms is an asset

  • Interest in institutional investment, pension governance, financial markets, public policy and the role of long-term investors in Canada

  • Bilingualism: English and French

We offer a tailored employee experience and competitive total rewards and benefits package* designed to attract and retain global diverse talent, reward performance, and reinforce business strategies and priorities. Beyond salary and incentive pay eligibility, you have access to:

  • Investment in career development

  • Comprehensive group insurance plans

  • Competitive pension plans

  • Unlimited access to virtual healthcare services and wellness programs

  • Gender-inclusive paid family leave policy: up to 26 weeks for primary caregivers, 5 weeks for secondary caregivers

  • A personalized family-building support, from pre-pregnancy to menopause, with available financial assistance

  • Vacation days available on day one with additional days on milestone service anniversaries, and summer Friday afternoons off

  • A hybrid work model with a mix of in-office and remote days
