Job description
Allyn International is currently looking for a full-time Hybrid Logistics Specialist in Thunder Bay Ontario Canada* to join our organization! Allyn International is a privately-held professional services firm established in 1992. We are dedicated to providing high-quality customer-centric services and solutions for the global marketplace. Our core products include transportation management logistics sourcing freight forwarding supply chain consulting tax management and customs Specialistis responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. TheLogistics Specialistshall manage outbound domestic and international logistics for client. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments projects and services as well as providing logistics support consulting and obtaining best possible transportation Details:Location: Thunder BayOntario CanadaWork Schedule: 40 hours Hybrid Monday-FridayWork Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PMPosition/Classification:Full-Time; Salaried ExemptPhysical Demands:Sitting typing and walking around a large warehouseDrug-Free Workplace and Equal Opportunity EmployerBenefits:Medical dental vision basic life (paid for by Allyn) voluntary life STD (paid for by Allyn) LTD 401k with Company Match Paid Vacation Paid Sick Time Paid Holidays tuition reimbursement and more!Ideal candidates:Bachelors or equivalent college degree focusinLogistics preferredLogisticscoordination experience preferred: project cargo port operations trucking transportation customs supply chain principlesExperience supporting wind energy or large-scale capital projects preferredExperience with transport damage documentation and claims processes preferredScheduling and critical path management experience preferredMust obtain andmaintainall training certifications permits or licensesrequiredfor the scope of work andcomply withAllyn and Client safety programs including use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Responsibilities:Communicate and coordinate with the Clients internallogisticsteam andin accordance withthe Clients instructions the Clients customer for project shipmentsAct as the on-site interface to the Clients designated externallogisticstransportation providers at designated locations (port of Thunder Bay ON; laydown yard in Weyburn SK; project site in Assiniboia SK)Coordinate on-sitelogisticstransportation provider activities in the most efficient way possibleMaintain all dates records and information from thelogisticsdepartment to ensurean accuratescheduleDocument transport damages with responsible stakeholders notating on appropriatelogisticsdocumentation (including Client-provided templates) and provide the documentation to the Client within twenty-four (24) hoursDiscuss process improvements cost savings and best practice knowledge sharing with the ClientCreate Bills of Lading (BOLs) for trucking and upload alllogisticsdocumentation to Allyns Logistics Application software (ALA)Provide daily written reports to the Client of activities completed each day including any issues or resolutions the Client shouldreasonably beinformed ofDocument all work asappropriateandmaintainorderly and auditable work files withappropriate securityand backup proceduresCoordinate with the Clients designated Logistics Manager on day-to-day priorities and shipment schedulesSupport trade compliance activities as needed includingaccurateand complete shipment documentation (e.g. bills of lading invoices customs declarations) and escalation of observed discrepanciesComply withall applicable laws Allyns safety program the Clients safety requirements and site-specific safety requirements including completion of Client training on applicable standards procedures and systemsAdjust weekly schedules in coordination with shipment arrivals including as-needed Saturday coverage while not exceeding forty (40) working hours per weekActivelyparticipatein team meetings conference calls and project coordination calls with the Allyn team and with the ClientIdentifyand suggest opportunities for improvement or process changeswhereneededOur clients range from small local businesses to Fortune 500 firms in industry sectors such as power generation and renewable energy road construction equipment electronics industrial materials heavy duty trucks mining and drilling equipment oil and gas modular building medical equipment not for profit and US government.
