Job Description

As a structural welder, you will work in a shop-based environment, focusing on short runs of various steel and aluminum products. Your primary responsibilities will include layout, setup, fitting, welding, and quality testing of your welds. The role involves some heavy lifting, with contractors expected to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding tasks within a shop environment.
• Work on short runs of steel and aluminum products.
• Conduct layout, setup, and fitting of materials.
• Execute welding and ensure the quality testing of welds.
• Handle heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.

Essential Skills

• Experience with FCAW and GMAW welding techniques.
• Possession of CWB certification for FCAW horizontal and flat positions.
• Proficiency in fitting and working with structural steel, aluminum, and stainless materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• MIG and TIG welding.
• Experience in quality control.
• Familiarity with operating bandsaw, shear, drill press, and ironworking tools.

Work Environment

The fabrication shop is located in Aldersyde, slightly out of High River, making it a convenient location for those commuting from the south end of Calgary. The shop consists of about 15 people, fostering a family-owned operation atmosphere. The shift is from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aldersyde, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
