Position Summary

Under the direction of the Cage management and supervisory team and with the guidance of the Lead Count Room Attendant, this position is responsible for picking up and securing the bill validator drop and / or the table games drop and ensuring its accountability.

Must work well within a team, excel at multi-tasking and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The count room attendant will contribute to a safe and welcoming work environment for all coworkers.

Must respect and adhere to all policies and procedures, regulations and Internal Controls.

Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

The Count Room Attendant will also perform the duties of a Count Room Attendant Lead in a secondary classification.

Key Accountabilities

Count Room Attendant

  • Removes cash boxes from slot machines
  • Ensure that all drops are transferred to the count room areas with a security escort
  • Empties cash boxes and table game drop boxes
  • Transfers assets to the proper department using proper procedures and attention
  • Participates in the physical count of all currency from the casino floor.
  • Loads and balances NRT self - redemption units& performs other drops as assigned
  • Verifies bank receipts.
  • Ensures processing of all drops is completed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Exemplifies GEM customer service skills and creates Great Experiences and Memories
  • Develops and cultivates healthy working relationships.
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Count Room Attendant Lead

  • Leads the Count team to ensure all daily Count Room functions are assigned and completed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures while on duty
  • Coaches team members by providing guidance, advice and instructions. Reports any performance concerns to Cage Management.
  • Liaises with Slot Technicians slot moves, conversion preparation and technical issues.
  • Performs first level trouble shooting of technical problems and software issues with appropriate departments.
  • Works with Cage Supervisors and Shift Managers to review efficiency objectives and results.
  • Monitors guest service being demonstrated by Count Room Attendants.
  • Removes bill validators from slot machines
  • Ensure that all drops (bill validator and table games) are transferred to the count room areas with a security escort
  • Transfers assets to the proper department
  • Empties bill validators and table games drop boxes
  • Participates in the physical count of all currency from the casino floor and balances CTK verifies receipts and drops as assigned.
  • Ensures all drop processing is completed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Assists Cage Management by providing on the job training for Count Room Attendants.

Education and Qualifications

  • Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and 'all about the guest ' attitude!
  • Minimum grade 12 or equivalent is required
  • Excellent mathematical skills, including efficient and accurate counting and attention to detail is required
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment is required
  • Strong observation skills required
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly is required
  • Must have solid interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening skills
  • Required to lift up to 25lbs at times
  • Schedule flexibility is required
  • Completion of Count Room training is required
