JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Director, Category Management & Strategy Sourcing.

Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain, this position leads the development and execution of category management strategies and strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize total cost of ownership, ensure security of supply, and support OPG’s long-term business objectives. The role also drives cross-functional collaboration, with a strong emphasis on building and sustaining effective partnerships across the organization - recognized as pivotal to achieving successful sourcing outcomes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead the development of category strategies and sourcing roadmaps aligned to business priorities, optimizing total cost of ownership and ensuring long-term security of supply.
• Drive execution of sourcing initiatives through structured processes including spend analysis, RFx strategies, contract structuring, and commercial risk management.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with business units, acting as a trusted advisor on procurement strategy, vendor selection, and complex negotiations.
• Monitor global market and economic trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities, leveraging market intelligence to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships to enhance performance, foster innovation, and deliver long-term value through robust SRM practices and governance.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, driving best-in-class practices across sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and supplier management.
• Provide strategic oversight of departmental goals, budgets, and spend (CAD 3–5B+), identifying and implementing process, technology, and efficiency improvements.
• Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, while taking on additional responsibilities as required to support evolving business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires a 4-year university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Requires a minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or supply chain leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale procurement portfolios and managing high value spend categories (e.g., $1B+).
• Strong knowledge of category management frameworks, strategic sourcing methodologies, and supplier relationship management practices.
• Proven ability to lead complex contract negotiations and manage commercial risk in a regulated or large enterprise environment.
• Experience building and maintaining senior-level stakeholder relationships and acting as a strategic business partner.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels and drive strategic outcomes.
