Hours: Up to 24 hours/week

Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work)

Rate of Pay: $ per hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation

The Job Developer is responsible for building and maintaining partnerships to effectively attract and retain employers in providing meaningful work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences and career opportunities for students.

In collaboration with the Centre for Experiential Learning and the Career Centre, the role will utilize established market development and sales techniques to strategically identify emerging needs and opportunities that will assist students and new graduates to meet their employment goals and support business development with partners in the ecosystem.

The role will conduct employer outreach and sales techniques to source program and industry-specific opportunities through multi-channel outreach strategies, including: cold calls (email, social media, phone), job fairs, networking, personal outreach, and lead generation, in order to achieve established targets. The incumbent will also conduct online job searches through social media platforms and external job boards.

Through a values-based approach, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring clarity of process and policies for new and existing employers. The incumbent will ensure that employers are aware of and supporting in applying for current funding opportunities for onboarding students and new hires.

The incumbent is responsible for accurately tracking employer leads within the Experiential Learning database and meeting established job development targets.

To support the college’s duty of care requirements, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all positions posted on the college’s internal experiential and career boards comply with the college’s approved recruitment polices and are appropriately vetted and confirmed before becoming active.

What you’ll be doing:

Employer Outreach, Support, and Recruitment

  • Determines appropriate program and sector alignment for new employers for WIL opportunities and graduate roles for students.
  • Provides support to employers in identifying which type of experiential learning would best meet their needs and connects employers with the appropriate department contacts.
  • Provides detailed information about processes/guidelines and other connections to experiential learning opportunities across the college.
  • Ensures compliance with the college’s policies.
  • Supports the college’s work-integrated learning and career staff in determining employer suitability and potential interest in special events.
  • Documents and communicates information regarding employers who do not meet the college’s recruitment/workplace policies or issues with employer accounts.
  • As required, communicates with other departments to share information about an employer’s status.
  • Assesses potential to match employer with funding opportunities and provides relevant information to employers.
  • Runs reports to identify and follow up with inactive employer partners registered in the college’s experiential learning database.

Research and Strategic Planning Support

  • Conducts economic trend, market, industry/sector and other analytics research to focus job development efforts to support the academic areas.
  • Attends and or hosts tables at industry events including networking events, conferences, association events, job fairs and trade shows.
  • Meets with prospective employers and community members at employer locations to form key partnerships.
  • Identifies new potential employers, both domestic and international, and determines appropriate employer contacts.
  • Keeps current of changes within existing partners; including employee contact moves, changes in needs, and future strategy that could impact to future WIL and Career Development opportunities and develops a plan to optimize these company changes.
  • Research short, medium, and long-term industry, employment, economic and sector trends and looks to leverage these changes for the betterment of the college’s WIL and Career Development.
  • Facilitates relationship building with appropriate associations and other industry related groups.
  • Monitors job and employer sites that list jobs potentially suitable for students.
  • Provides information and data to inform decision-making related to new program development or other initiatives.
  • Conducts initial outreach to employers to invite, solicit, and verify interest in on-campus events.

Marketing

  • Develops, writes, and edits engaging work-integrated learning and career development content (text, graphics, video) that aligns with the brand voice and marketing objectives.
  • Maintains a consistent, active presence by planning and scheduling posts on platforms like LinkedIn.
  • Monitors social channels to engage with followers, respond to comments, and messages, and manage user-generated content.
  • Follows an adheres to all college marketing and social media guidelines and policies.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A three-year diploma/degree in such disciplines as: Human Resources, Career/Education, Business Administration, or related field (at the point of hire).
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of work-integrated learning activities within post-secondary education.
  • Experience with experiential learning data software and data reporting ( - Orbis, Symplicity, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, monitoring, and assessment skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, web editing, and social media applications ( LinkedIn).
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and be self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Career Development Practitioner (CDP), CEWIL Practitioner, or related certification (preferred).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated success in Human Resources, Recruiting, or Marketing. Proven computer skills and excellent business writing and communication skills required. Strong customer service skills are critical. Must be comfortable explaining details verbally and skilled rapport building abilities.
  • The incumbent must have knowledge of occupations, industries, labour market trends and job search strategies. Expertise using contact management/database systems is an asset. Familiarity with job posting systems, employer vetting requirements and technology.
  • Exemplary organization, time management, communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, persuasiveness, perseverance, initiative, and creativity is required along with strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • The incumbent must be able to work independently and be well organized to manage resources and documentation as well as manage and cultivate existing relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
