Part-time Infusion Nurse (Oshawa, ON, on-site)

The Opportunity

This dynamic position allows for direct patient care in an infusion clinic focused as a center of excellence for specialty medications. The Infusion Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients with chronic conditions such as neurological disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatologic diseases, and other lifelong illnesses. This role focuses on patient assessments, administering intravenous and injectable medications, and monitoring treatment outcomes. Acting as the primary point of contact for assigned healthcare providers, the Infusion Nurse ensures patients have convenient and comfortable access to their prescribed therapies while serving as a key resource for disease management and treatment education. As the clinic’s lead operator, the Infusion Nurse is responsible for meeting quality compliance and delivering safe, effective treatment.

Job Duties

• Complete pre‑treatment assessments to ensure patient eligibility for treatment.
• Insert peripheral intravenous lines or establish central line access following best practices and provincial college standards.
• Provide medical support to patients, including education on diseases, therapies, and disease management.
• Support and monitor the administration of IV, SC, and IM medications in the clinic environment.
• Handle and reconstitute biologic or oncology medications within Health Canada and manufacturer guidelines.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment.
• Maintain training for specific therapies per Health Canada’s Product Monograph and company policies.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinic environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations, and uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Maintain adequate medical and office supplies through regular inventory checks and timely ordering.
• Document and maintain patient records to ensure treatment history is adequately captured.
• Submit necessary documentation to appropriate parties as outlined by Sentrex policies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and corporate information, sharing details only with authorized personnel in accordance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
• Liaise with physicians’ offices, pharmacies, service providers, and other parties to provide comprehensive, coordinated service to patients and healthcare providers.
• Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities, clinic audits, and training sessions.
• Administer and adhere to patient care protocols, including clinical monitoring, data collection, ongoing patient follow‑up, compliance, therapy disruption/discontinuation monitoring, adverse event reporting, and liaison with primary healthcare providers.
• Follow and abide by all provincial College of Nurses guidelines while providing patient care.
• Report adverse events in accordance with Health Canada, manufacturer, and company guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Sentrex leadership.

What You Need to Ensure Success

• Minimum 2‑4 years of infusion nursing experience.
• Registered Nurse with Professional Liability Insurance.
• Experience in critical care, emergency, oncology, neurology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, hepatology, and/or pediatrics (asset).
• Maintain yearly membership in good standing with provincial College of Registered Nurses.
• CPR and First‑Aid certification required.
• ACLS, CVA, CON(C), PALS certificates (asset).
• Expert IV insertion skills.
• Confidently deliver patient education, including self‑injection education and medication teaching.
• Ability to administer medications via IV, IM, and/or SC.
• Passion for supporting patient care and removing barriers to care.
• Work autonomously and proficiently as part of a larger remote team.
• Comfort executing medical directives and managing infusion‑related reactions.
• Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry (asset).
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to patient and HCP requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills: ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
