Job description
Hello! My name is Katherine, and I'm seeking a caring and responsible nanny in Courtenay, British Columbia. We are looking for someone who can provide care for our infant (18 months old) and also engage with our primary school-aged child (almost 5 years old). This position is live-out, part-time, and short term. We are looking for nanny support Mon-Fri 7:45am - 4:45 pm for the following dates: August 4-14, September 1-15. The infant will be starting full-time daycare with gradual entry starting August 8, and the oldest will be starting kindergarten in September. The elementary school is a short walk from the house. We are looking for a nanny to drop off and pick up the oldest from kindergarten and spend time with one or both kids while they are not at daycare or school. The school typically does 1-2 hours per day of gradual entry for the first 2 weeks of kindergarten It is essential that our nanny has held a CPR certification in the last 10 years, but it’s not a requirement that it is currently valid. I have minimal/no expectations for cleaning my home while caring for the kids. No laundry, dishes, organizing or any other intensive cleaning. If the kids spill something on the floor like orange juice if that could be cleaned up right away, a quick wipe down of the high chair between meals - basic on the go cleaning is my expectation. I try to teach them to put away their toys, clean up something they’ve spilled (this doesn’t always work though). I will pack the kids lunches and snacks every day. Neither kid has a food allergy. I want the kids to be safe, have fun, and learn from others in a firm but loving environment. My kids are busy and they don’t have tablets. We have a fully fenced backyard, tonnes of toys, and kids with healthy imaginations. My oldest loves any imaginative play, a movie/show while his brother naps from 10-12, a book read to him, dancing to ACDC, playing Lego, and every minute they can get outside. My youngest loves playing whatever big brother is playing. We offer a competitive wage of $25 per hour for the right candidate who meets our criteria and can create a fun and nurturing environment for our kids.
