This position will be located at the Education Centre in Airdrie, AB. This is a 10-month position based on the school calendar.The Sports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the successful execution of the sports seasons and events within Rocky View Schools (RVS). The Sports Coordinator organizes all events related to the full schedule of Rocky View Sports Association (RVSA) sanctioned middle and high school athletics programs, as well as RVS events for the Office of the Superintendent.Responsibilities Include Creates and maintains an annual calendar of RVSA events that includes high and middle school regular season and divisional play-off games, tournaments, bonspiels, meets, banquets, pre/post-season coaches meetings, middle and high school Sports Parameters meetings, links to the Learning golf tournament, and other events as determined by the Office of the SuperintendentManages Rocky View Sports Association website including scoresAttends South Central Zone and Alberta Schools Athletics Association meetings and eventsAdvises RVSA executive on new initiatives and coordinates RVSA Executive MeetingsRents sports equipment and event software, if requiredChairs and organizes pre/post-season coaches meetings and event committee meetings including room bookings, refreshments, recording meeting minutes and posting minutes of meetingsChairs and organizes middle school and high school end of year parameters meetings including room bookings, refreshments, recording meeting minutes and posting minutes of meetingsManages RVSSA Sharepoint sitesSends memos and manages communication with RVS administrators, commissioners, athletic directors and coaches Coordinates communication with administrators regarding postponement or cancellation of games/tournaments due to weather, road conditions and/or air quality conditions.Reviews, manages and calculates all Plug-in feesRegisters RVS representatives for Zone and Provincial competitionsMonitors RVSA emails, sports-specific software, and budget managerOversees the certification of all RVSA coachesMonitors release time for teacher coaches, bussing to divisional athletic eventsManages divisional awards program for the RVS leaguesManagement of awards and banners including ordering/purchases divisional awards and banners for the RVS leagues and coordinates MVP and All-Star awards program Approves coaching development clinics and online trainingReviews and approves host school sitesEngages services of sports officials and sports therapistsManages host reimbursement programEnsures Zone and provincial fees are paid for RVSEnforces policies of the Rocky View Sports Association by keeping sports handbooks current Issues warnings and suspensions, resolving issues, and ensuring Codes of Conducts for Players, Coaches, and Parents are relevantBuilds and maintains relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including coaches, administrators, and Zone and provincial sports representativesEducation/ExperienceMinimum Bachelor Degree in Education or Kinesiology1-3 years’ previous experience in the organization and operation of athletics programs and events preferably at the middle and/or high school levelPrevious supervisory experience is considered an assetPrevious experience as a physical education teacher, athletic director and/or school administrator is considered an assetAn equivalent combination of Education and Experience would be considered an assetKnowledge and SkillsProven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clientsAdvanced organizational and prioritization skillsDemonstrated ability to apply excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsStrong critical thinking and attention to detailAbility to take initiative and work with minimal supervision within defined responsibilitiesAbility to provide leadership and direction to teachers, community coaches and event staffProven organizational ability in scheduling leagues and tournamentsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applicationsRocky View Schools Benefits3 Weeks' Vacation pro-rated based on start dateHybrid (one day a week, working remotely) with Supervisor ApprovalFlex Benefits Plan (Extended health, Dental Benefits, Wellness/Health Care Spending Account(s), Tax Free Savings Account and Registered Retirement Savings Plan).
