Material Prep – Afternoon Shift – General Production Worker
Job Description
This role focuses on preparing materials used in the manufacture of high-efficiency transformer units and power distribution solutions. As a material prep worker on the afternoon shift, you will cut and prepare metal, paper, and other materials to precise specifications so coil winders can assemble transformer coils efficiently and accurately. You will work with measurement tools and a hydraulic cutting machine in a clean, well-organized production environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all materials required by coil winders for transformer coil production, ensuring correct type and quantity are available when needed.
- Cut metal, paper, and other materials to specified sizes based on the dimensions and requirements of each transformer being constructed.
- Use provided measurement tools, primarily tape measures, to verify dimensions and maintain accuracy in all cutting tasks.
- Operate a hydraulic cutting machine safely, including placing materials correctly, using the foot control, and monitoring the shear during cutting.
- Handle hand tools and power tools as needed to perform material preparation and general production tasks.
- Follow established production procedures to maintain efficiency, quality, and consistency in material prep activities.
- Organize and stage materials so they are easy to access and ready for quick, efficient use by coil winders and other production staff.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, contributing to a safe and well-organized manufacturing environment.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and use equipment properly to prevent accidents and protect yourself and coworkers.
- Lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Ability to consistently lift and handle materials up to 30 pounds.
- Experience working with measurement tools, such as tape measures, to ensure accurate cutting and sizing.
- Hands-on experience with material cutting tools in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Comfort and capability using hand tools and power tools for general labor and production tasks.
- Ability to operate basic machinery, including hydraulic cutting equipment, following safety procedures.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise measurements and specifications.
- Reliability in following instructions and established production processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background as a general production or manufacturing production worker.
- Experience with machine operation and machine operating in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with general labor duties in a production environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and coil winding teams.
- Strong focus on efficiency and organization when preparing and staging materials.

Work Environment
This position is based in a modern manufacturing facility with good lighting and a very clean, organized environment. All materials are provided and arranged to support quick, efficient workflow. You will work with measurement tools, hand tools, power tools, and a hydraulic cutting machine. Standard shifts run Monday to Friday, with a day shift from 7:00 . to 3:30 . and an afternoon shift from 3:30 . to 12:00 . The role involves consistent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds and working on your feet in a production setting, following safety guidelines and using appropriate equipment.
