Your new role
You will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the business by preparing accurate andpetitive cost estimates for fire alarm installations, upgrades, and retrofit projects. Working closely with the sales, design, and project management teams, you will evaluate project requirements, assess risks, and develop detailed estimates that support successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Conducting occasional site visits throughout the GTA to gather project information and assess site conditions.
- Collaborating with the sales team to review bid opportunities and support bid strategy discussions.
- Preparingprehensive estimates covering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and contingencies.
- Identifying potential project risks, challenges, and cost impacts.
- Obtaining and evaluating pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensurepetitive submissions.
- Working closely with the design team to ensure proposed solutions meet applicable fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations.
- Supporting project managers throughout the project life-cycle with cost tracking, budgeting, and change order management.
- Staying current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and changes to fire alarm codes and standards.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- At least 1–2 years of experience in fire alarm system estimating or a related electrical estimating role.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems,ponents, and applicable industry standards, including NFPA and CAN/ULC requirements.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using estimating software such as ProEst or similar platforms is considered an asset.
- Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- A high level of attention to detail andmitment to estimate accuracy.
- A valid Ontario G2 or G Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel occasionally throughout the GTA for site visits.
- A desire to build a long-term career within a growing organization.
- Relevant certifications such as CET or CFAA are considered an asset but are not required.
