As Financial Services Associate:

As a senior member of the branch sales/leadership team, the primary responsibilities for this position will be to understand the financial needs of our Members and provide the appropriate advice and recommendations to fit their needs. This will include offering large or complex credit and investment advice as well as proactively identifying and promoting opportunities for Meridian products and services. In this role the Financial Services Advisor will be responsible for meeting and exceeding specific individual and team-based business goals. While providing the right financial solutions, the incumbent will manage Member portfolios to genuinely build and develop relationships with Members. While actively positioning Meridian’s products and services to add value to our Members financial well-being.

Must have a passion for Member Experience, ensuring that Meridian maintains its tradition of exceeding Member expectations and “Bringing the Member Experience to life”.

The Financial Services Advisor will work alongside and align financial strategies and activities to support Meridian’s internal business partners – Wealth, Small Business, Mobile Mortgage Specialists to ensure value added delivery of Member centric products/solutions.

In addition, this role will be responsible for meeting and exceeding specific individual goals and contributing towards team-based business results. This role is expected to proactively engage in revenue generating and sales-based activities, foster and deepen Member relationships and refer business to other channels.

    • Act as a trusted partner to build, develop and maintain internal relationships within the Member Experience teams and cross-functional departments, to ensure alignment for achievement of Meridian’s Retail Experience goals.
    • Participates and leads branch activities in support of expanding the Member relationship and growing share of wallet including growing our Digital Ambassador Program

    • Engage in revenue generation and sales based activities in order to achieve performance objectives.
    • Open new Member accounts using account opening strategies
    • Hold or willingness to obtain Mutual fund accreditation and maintain thorough knowledge of economic and market conditions
    • Build external centres of influence to optimize sales and service results
    • Use Meridian tools to proactively identify and promote opportunities with all Members to deepen relationships and provide seamless service experiences
    • Embrace virtual technology platforms and leverage them to host meetings and engage in impactful communication with Members
    • Through sales excellence earn the right to ask for business and drive new referrals
    • To appropriate partners in Retail Wealth, Small Business and Commercial
    • Resolve problems at first point of contact where possible and refer more complex Member concerns to appropriate staff
    • Balance and process daily work in accordance to standard compliance, audit, policies and procedures
    • Works with the Branch leadership team, to champion and implement corporate strategies and programs for the branch.
    • Maintain discretion and confidentiality to respect Members privacy.
    • Demonstrates excellent listening and strong consultative skills.
    • Removes systemic barriers to exceptional Member Experience.
    • Identify and contributes to the continuous enhancement of the Member Experience while leveraging Voice of Employee.

    • Support local community organizations and activities through Business Development and Good Neighbour Program. Planning, preparation and delivery of Meridian hosted Community events.

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Designations/Certifications

  • Post-secondary education at least 3 years of equivalent work experience in a financial services sales environment with a proven track record in sales
  • At minimum MFDA licensing is required

Salary Range: CAD $52,000 – $78,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range.
