bilingual Field Service Technician to support customers throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electro-mechanical technician who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, working independently, and traveling throughout the region while providing exceptional customer support. The successful candidate will become the primary technical resource for a growing customer base and will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated X-ray screening and security systems.

Position Overview Reporting to the Service Manager,
the Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced X-ray and security screening equipment at customer locations throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Following a structured onboarding and training period of approximately 90–120 days, the successful candidate will take ownership of supporting customer sites throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning
- Install and commission X-ray security screening systems and related equipment at customer locations.
- Verify proper operation and performance following installation.
- Complete all required documentation and commissioning reports.
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.
- Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical, electrical, electronic, HVAC cooling, and power generation systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues down to the circuit board and component level.
- Replace and calibrate components as required.
- Ensure equipment uptime and reliability while minimizing customer disruption.
Customer Support
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers within the assigned territory.
- Respond to service calls and technical inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide customer training on the safe and proper operation of equipment.
- Build strong customer relationships through exceptional service delivery.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete service reports, inspection records, radiation surveys, parts requests, and expense reports accurately and on time.
- Follow all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate service records and equipment histories.
Continuous Improvement
- Communicate recurring equipment issues and customer feedback to management.
- Support process improvements and best practices across the service organization.

Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years of field service, maintenance, or technical repair experience.
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with electrical, electronic, HVAC, power generation, or industrial equipment systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment to the board/component level.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Fluent communication skills in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
- Ability to work independently and manage service priorities effectively.
Preferred
- Associate Degree, Diploma, or post-secondary education in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting X-ray imaging, security screening, diagnostic imaging, biomedical, or similar technologies.
- Previous experience with Smiths Detection, security screening systems, airport screening equipment, cargo inspection systems, or related technologies.
- Knowledge of radiation-based equipment and imaging systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift heavier equipment with assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work around mechanical equipment.
- Comfortable working in industrial, transportation, airport, and customer facility environments.
Travel Requirements
- Travel throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
- Primarily day travel with occasional overnight stays.
- Initial training may require travel outside the province.
- Home-based role with regional territory responsibility.
Work Environment This position involves working around sophisticated electromechanical and X-ray screening systems. Exposure to low-level radiation may occur; however, exposure levels remain significantly below regulatory limits and all applicable safety standards and procedures are strictly followed.
