Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The Role:

The Manager, ABM Operations and Projects leads a team responsible for the management and daily operations of the Bank’s ABM network in Canada, including cash management and third-party servicing for all outsourced ABMs. The role also oversees the ABM claims and settlement process with external service providers.

This position supports the delivery of secure, cost-effective currency supply solutions across the branch and ABM networks. Accountabilities span operational, technical, and financial components of currency services, including cash distribution, ABM servicing and maintenance, centralized processing, and data analytics.

The Manager contributes to the overall success of the Currency Services team by ensuring projects, initiatives, and day-to-day operations are executed effectively in support of business strategies and objectives. The role also fosters continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, optimize processes, and reduce unit costs.

Through ongoing collaboration with internal stakeholders, external vendors (including third-party service providers), regulators, and industry partners, the incumbent ensures the Bank consistently receives high-quality service and competitive value from its suppliers.

All activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and the Bank’s risk appetite.

Is this role right for you? - In this role you will:

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Leads the day-to-day operations of the Bank’s ABM network, including cash forecasting, load optimization, and third-party servicing, ensuring adherence to strict timelines and file transmission requirements. Oversees forecasting tools, models, and controls to ensure accurate cash positioning, minimize out-of-cash events, and balance service levels with cost efficiency.
  • Manages the ABM claims and settlement process and oversees centralized currency processing, cash delivery, and ABM maintenance programs to ensure effective and reliable service delivery. Establishes and executes contingency plans to maintain service continuity during operational or vendor disruptions.
  • Ensures ABM and currency-related data is accurate, controlled, and accessible to support analysis, reporting, and decision-making. Identifies trends, issues, and anomalies, escalating risks as required, and providing actionable recommendations to improve operational performance, customer experience, and cost to serve.
  • Drives continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance service delivery. Maintains strong knowledge of industry trends, emerging solutions, and best practices to support innovation and program enhancements.
  • Manages relationships with third-party service providers, ensuring performance aligns with contractual obligations, service level agreements, and strategic objectives. Supports and leads contract lifecycle activities, including RFPs, renewals, negotiations, and changeovers.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, regulators, and industry partners to align on priorities, policies, and service expectations, providing expertise and guidance on operational, technical, and policy-related matters.
  • Manages budgets, forecasts, and expenses related to ABM operations, currency services, and strategic initiatives. Supports financial planning, vendor pricing, and contract negotiations to optimize cost efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Leads and supports strategic initiatives, including the development of business cases, funding requests, and program delivery aligned to enterprise and Currency Services objectives.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Ensures all activities are conducted in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while maintaining effective controls to mitigate operational, compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk. Escalates issues with potential operational or reputational impact as required.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing, inclusive team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong performance. Supports recruitment, development, and succession planning to ensure ongoing team effectiveness.
