Unit Summary
The Women’s & Newborn Health Program at McMaster University Medical Centre and McMaster Children’s Hospital provides specialized obstetrical, gynecological and newborn care in a tertiary setting serving a broad geographic region within southern Ontario. This includes high volume ambulatory women’s health services with a number of outpatient clinics spanning the full spectrum of obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal fetal medicine; inpatient care supporting over 4,000 births annually and the largest NICU of its kind in Canada, caring for over 1,500 critically ill newborns per year. A Neonatal Transport Team supports regional care in collaboration with provincial partners. The large and dynamic interdisciplinary Women’s & Newborn Health team provides family-centered care with a strong focus on evidence-based best practices, innovation and continuous quality improvement. The team is actively involved in leading in a number of productive and impactful research activities and collaborative quality improvement initiatives provincially, nationally and internationally.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Women’s & Newborn Health Program Director, the Clinical Manager, Units 4B and 4C and the Newborn Assessment Post Discharge clinic (NAP) is a key member of the program’s leadership team with operational responsibility for the delivery of safe, accessible and efficient patient care. In a manner consistent with the vision, values and strategic goals of Hamilton Health Sciences, the Clinical Manager fosters engagement and innovation while providing strategic leadership to support high quality care in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic environment. The Clinical Manager is a champion and role model for patient safety, team development and continuous quality improvement while working collaboratively with individuals and teams within the program, across the organization and with external partners.

Qualifications
1. Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare discipline or related field
2. Current registration in the province of Ontario within a regulated health profession
3. Demonstrated effective leadership and management skills with a minimum of three years recent and relevant clinical leadership experience in a hospital setting
4. Evidence of commitment to continuing education through formal or other educational endeavours
5. Demonstrated excellence in communication, team-building and the ability to initiate and model positive change
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging and collaborative environment with internal and external stakeholders
7. Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and priorities with flexibility and critical thinking
8. Experience in effectively coaching and mentoring individuals and teams including strong conflict management skills
9. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the planning and delivery of patient care services
