Job Title: Industrial Painter
Job Description
This role focuses on industrial painting and blasting of vessels, spools, tanks, and valves in a shop environment. You start each shift with a toolbox meeting, inspect and service painting and blasting equipment, and then carry out high-quality coating applications using epoxy and urethane paints. The position requires strong technical skills in industrial blasting, spray application, and quality control, as well as adherence to safety procedures and documentation standards.
Responsibilities
- Attend toolbox meetings at the start of each shift and receive daily work instructions from the shop foreman.
- Inspect, service, and prepare painting and blasting equipment before work each day.
- Perform industrial blasting using garnet abrasive media on vessels, spools, tanks, valves, and other components as assigned.
- Apply epoxy and urethane coatings using spray guns and other appropriate equipment, ensuring proper coverage and finish.
- Work safely with blasting systems operating at or above 100 psi, following all safety and operational procedures.
- Complete blast and paint reports accurately and submit them to the foreman for review and record keeping.
- Operate manlifts and forklifts when certified, following safe operating practices and shop protocols.
- Carry out work in confined spaces when required, strictly adhering to confined space entry and safety procedures.
- Perform basic quality checks on completed work to confirm adherence to specifications and coating standards.
- Use plural component sprayers when required, ensuring correct setup, operation, and cleaning.
- Follow all safety policies, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment such as blast hoods and respirators.
- Collaborate with foremen and team members in a supportive environment focused on skill development and long-term growth.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and care for tools and equipment to ensure reliability and longevity.
- Demonstrate reliability and long-term commitment, supporting a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in industrial blasting in a shop or similar environment.
- Proven industrial painting experience, including spray gun operation and surface preparation.
- Hands-on experience applying epoxy and urethane paints using sprayers.
- Ability to work with blasting equipment operating at or above 100 psi while following safety procedures.
- Experience working in confined spaces with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Quality control inspection experience related to coatings and blasting work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Competence in completing blast and paint reports and other basic documentation.
- Capability to operate manlifts and forklifts when appropriately certified.
- Strong commitment to safety, including proper use of respirators and other PPE.
- Willingness to work early morning shifts and adapt to a 4-day, 10-hour schedule when implemented.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CSTS certification.
- Confined space certification.
- Ownership of a personal blast hood suitable for industrial blasting work.
- QC experience with recognized credentials such as NACE Level 3 or AMP certification.
- Completed respirator fit testing and ability to wear a respirator for extended periods.
- Experience using plural component sprayers for specialized coating applications.
- Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE) Training Certification.
- Exposure to ISO 9001 and COR-certified environments and associated quality and safety standards.
- Interest in developing into foreman or quality control roles over time.
- Desire to work in a collaborative environment that focuses on teaching and mentoring the next generation of tradespeople.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large industrial shop equipped with in-floor heating, providing a warm and comfortable workspace during winter months. You work with garnet abrasive media for blasting and use industrial spray equipment, including plural component sprayers, in a setting aligned with ISO 9001 and COR standards. The current schedule runs from approximately 6:00 . to 2:30 ., with plans to transition to a four-day workweek with 10-hour days from 6:00 . to 4:30 . later in the year. The environment is collaborative, with foremen and experienced team members focused on teaching and supporting long-term employee growth. Proper personal protective equipment, including respirators and blast hoods, is required, and safety practices are deeply embedded in daily operations.
