Senior Structural Engineer

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our client, a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm that has built a strong reputation delivering municipal, institutional, commercial, and infrastructure projects across Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design for a diverse portfolio of institutional, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
• Complete feasibility studies, structural analysis, detailed design, and specification preparation.
• Design and review structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, and specialty structural systems.
• Prepare and review structural drawings using AutoCAD and coordinate with internal drafting resources.
• Conduct structural assessments, condition evaluations, and provide recommendations for rehabilitation and retrofit projects.
• Perform construction reviews, field inspections, and contract administration throughout project delivery.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural professionals.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing technical guidance throughout all project phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the structural team.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
• 10+ years of structural consulting experience, preferably within building design.
• Strong experience designing structural steel, reinforced concrete, and wood structures.
• Experience with institutional, municipal, commercial, or public-sector projects.
• Proven experience with building additions, renovations, retrofit, and rehabilitation projects.
• Contract administration and construction review experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and applicable design standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with structural analysis software is considered an asset.
• Excellent communication, client management, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in mentoring junior staff and growing into a senior leadership role.
