The Community Engagement team is seeking a Community Content Specialist who will be responsible for creating timely, on-the-ground multimedia content that keeps communities informed about construction activities and project updates. Embedded within communities directly impacted by construction, this role develops a deep understanding of local sentiment, concerns, and information needs, ensuring communications are relevant, responsive, and meaningful. The successful candidate will proactively identify storytelling opportunities, engage directly with community stakeholders, and produce high-quality content that helps residents and businesses navigate construction-related impacts. In-Office Requirement – NON-HR: This role is an in‑office position based at our 20, Bay Street location. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization. What will I be doing?
  • Create compelling written, visual, and multimedia content for community-facing construction communication channels.
  • Write, edit, and publish clear, concise, and audience-friendly content that explains construction progress, project milestones, impacts, and mitigation measures.
  • Capture, edit, and produce video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Take and edit high-quality photographs for use in newsletters, presentations, emails, community updates, flyers, websites, and events using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Develop simple graphic assets, including maps, flyers, email graphics, social media visuals, and community engagement materials.
  • Design content-rich presentations for public meetings, stakeholder engagements, and community events.
  • Provide live event coverage through photography and videography.
  • Conduct research, fact gathering, fact-checking, and content validation with subject matter experts, contractors, project delivery teams, and senior leaders.
  • Ensure all communications are accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational standards and publishing deadlines.
  • Apply best practices in content production, post-production, photography, videography, motion graphics, and editorial style.
  • Monitor emerging industry trends, technologies, and best practices in digital communications and multimedia storytelling.
  • Build a strong understanding of project delivery, construction activities, community impacts, and regulatory requirements to create informed and relevant content.
  • Identify opportunities to tell authentic community stories that foster trust, transparency, and engagement.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Production, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in digital communications, public affairs, journalism, multimedia content creation, or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with experience translating complex information into clear, accessible content.

  • Strong photography, videography, and field production skills.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for photo editing.

  • Experience creating graphics using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Express, or similar platforms.

  • Knowledge of content production, post-production, motion graphics, and digital content in best practices.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent fact-checking and editorial skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as required to support community events, stakeholder engagement activities, and urgent issues.

  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.

  • Access to reliable transportation (personal vehicle or public transit) to reach field assignments and community events.
