As the Sterilization Technician, you would be joining a group of dental professionals who are passionate about the care of our patients. We are looking for a full-time Sterilization Technician to join our team and work at Fort Dental located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collect, prepare and organize tools for scheduled dental procedures.
· Collect, catalogue and clean surgical tools following the completion of a medical or dental procedure; inspect surgical tools for wear or damage and place orders for replacements; prepare surgical tools for re-sterilization for future procedures.
· Operate sterilization equipment such as steam autoclaves, gas chamber sterilizers, hot bead sterilizers and other sterilization equipment.
· Maintain records of operation and calibration of this equipment and report any problems with sterilization equipment to Practice Manager.
· Maintain a supply of sterile disposables such as needles, gauze, syringes and disposable kits, ensuring they are not expired; notify Office Manager to place orders as supplies are used.
· Perform dental assistant duties when needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Graduation from an accredited dental assistant training program is desirable or approximately one year of work experience as a dental assistant or equivalent position.
· Must be licensed, or have the qualifications to be licensed, by the provincial governing body in the jurisdiction of the dental clinic.
· Must be proficient in all duties allowed by registered dental assistants under the provincial Health Profession Act.
· Must be able to participate with a team of dental care professionals in creating a safe, effective, and efficient workplace.
· Understanding of infection control protocol and the sterilization process.
· Exceptional time management and organizational skills to ensure equipment is sterilized and made available to dentists and hygienists, enabling proper management of scheduled treatment during the day; the goal of minimizing patient wait times.
· Systematic, and with good follow-through.
· Patient services orientation with a desire to create a comfortable and caring environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must wear safety glasses, surgical masks, protective clothing, and gloves to protect oneself and patients from infectious diseases.
