About the Role
Provides technical support for instructional and special events at centrally supported spaces (e.g., teaching and learning spaces, meeting rooms, and other areas) on campus at the university. Acts as a team lead by coordinating and directing the activities of other technicians; and functions as a primary lead technician during designated/assigned installation projects as required. Develops standard operating procedures (e.g., inventory process). Plans maintenance schedules; and installs, repairs, maintains and troubleshoots audio-visual equipment, systems, and facilities. Monitors and coordinates audio-visual and technical support for large and/or complex events. Participates in assigned technical installation projects and commissions new equipment, systems, and facilities. Recommends training requirements for team members to the supervisor. Provides back-up technical and administrative support by overseeing the workflow of the team and coordinating daily work priorities; responding to and resolving problems that arise; and coordinating the activities of assigned installation projects.
Qualifications
High school graduation and two-year post-secondary education or formal certificate/diploma program equivalent in audio visual and/or electronics technology. 6 years of minimum experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
- Ability to interpret, create and edit plans, plots and schematics using engineering software programs (i.e., CAD).
- Ability to use all hand tools used in electronics trade including wood and metal work power tools
- Ability to draft electronic documentation (i.e. schematic diagrams, block diagrams etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair and install audio-visual/computer equipment and systems
- Ability to train, assign and check the work of other positions.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends on short notice.
