Job description

At Gore Mutual, we’ve always set ourselves apart as a modern mutual that does good. Now, we’re proudly building on that legacy to transform our company—and our industry—for the better.

Effective January 1, 2026, Gore has joined Beneva—the country’s largest mutual insurance company—as part of its Property & Casualty operations in Ontario and Western Canada. During 2026, Gore will combine its operations with Unica Insurance, Beneva’s Ontario‑based subsidiary specializing in niche commercial and personal insurance, creating a stronger, more diversified mutual insurer with greater scale and long‑term stability.

Senior Cloud Network Engineer

The Senior Cloud Network Engineer’s responsibility is to design, implement and manage scalable, secure, and high‑performance hybrid cloud network architectures. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal operation and security of cloud enterprise‑class hybrid networks, directly impacting the efficiency and reliability of the organization’s IT infrastructure both on‑premises and across a multi‑cloud hybrid footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of new network infrastructure initiatives.
  • Serve as the technical network lead on high‑visibility incidents, supporting users in resolving existing system problems.
  • Support migration projects, including implementation, action planning, configuration, and deployment while considering business and technical requirements, sizing, existing infrastructure, data protection, security requirements, governance, and recovery objectives.
  • Coordinate with the security team to document and implement network security principles and guidelines.
  • Lead the design, maintenance, and administration of computer networks, including LAN, WLAN, cloud, and VPN.
  • Administer and maintain network security components such as firewalls, WAF, and NAC.
  • Configure and support B2B IPSec VPN connections with external parties.
  • Create and maintain network architecture design documents for new and existing objectives.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring activity and using observability tools such as Dynatrace and Azure monitoring.
  • Lead disaster recovery operations when required.

What you will do

  • Design, deploy and maintain on‑premise, Microsoft Azure and AWS network infrastructure.
  • Construct and engineer networking solutions based on architectural designs.
  • Recommend changes to services within the direct scope of enterprise infrastructure operations and the cloud and platform operations team.
  • Share best practices and provide coaching to teams supporting networking environments.
  • Collaborate with IT operations, cloud centre of excellence, architecture and security teams to ensure efficient and secure implementation of cloud network services.
  • Collaborate with the product team to deliver solutions using modern DevSecOps tools and best practices, taking ownership of application deployment and configuration management.
  • Work autonomously in setting objectives guided by leadership.
  • Support and maintain Azure and AWS network infrastructure.
  • Use Terraform to deploy all Azure and AWS networking resources.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Automate, deploy, manage, and maintain Azure and AWS cloud‑based networking.
  • Ensure availability, performance, security and scalability of Azure and AWS networking infrastructure.
  • Establish and configure production monitoring metrics and logging using Dynatrace and native Azure and AWS services.
  • Perform technical lead duties when designing new network infrastructure and architecture initiatives.
  • Design and administer virtual network components in the cloud.
  • Define system requirements and architecture by collaborating with server, storage, network, database, and application teams.
  • Document diagrams, policies and procedures for newly deployed systems and review annually.
  • Provide strategic and architectural guidance related to general networking and network security.

Disaster Recovery and Network Business Continuity

  • Lead disaster recovery operations when required.
  • Coordinate, plan and implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
  • Partner with infrastructure architects on network design objectives.
  • Configure and support B2B IPSec VPN connections with external parties.

Security Management

  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs and intrusion detection systems.
  • Coordinate with security team on network security principles and guidelines.
  • Administer and maintain network security components such as firewalls, WAF and NAC.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with other IT teams to integrate cloud network solutions with existing systems and applications.
  • Serve as the technical network lead on high‑visibility incidents and support users in resolving system problems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software and other network problems including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and VPN concentrators.
  • Provide strategic and architectural guidance on general networking and network security.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring activity and using observability tools such as Dynatrace and Azure monitoring.
  • Monitor and maintain company‑wide AV infrastructure such as conference rooms and collaboration spaces.
  • Serve as on‑call network engineer for after‑hours escalation issues as part of the on‑call rotation.

Documentation

Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes and procedures.

What Skills You Need

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology/Networking with CCNP, CCIE and AZ‑700 or AZ‑104 certification; highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Cisco networking.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in AWS and Azure networking.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience deploying, maintaining and managing Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Minimum 3 years of DevOps experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $79,500 – $129,500. Base compensation may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications and market conditions. Additional compensation may be earned through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program, provided business performance targets are met and individual goals are achieved.

Gore Mutual offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes extended health and dental benefits, disability insurance, retirement plan matching, paid time off, recognition and perk programs.
