Job description

Position Summary

Join our dynamic Nuclear Medicine team at Quinte Health and take your expertise to the next level! Quinte Health offers a unique and diverse clinical environment. Our team delivers specialized services including White Blood Cell Labelling and a wide range of complex hospital based Nuclear Medicine studies. You will gain experience across multiple subspecialties including cardiovascular, genitourinary, skeletal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and endocrine imaging. With the recent installation of the GE NM/CT 860 SPECT CT and the GE NM/CT 870 SPECT CT systems, our department is at the forefront of advanced diagnostic imaging. These start of the art platforms seamlessly integrate functional and anatomical imaging, enabling faster results, greater diagnostic accuracy and an improved patient experience. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will work alongside a collaborative and skilled team, using leading edge technology while continuing to expand your clinical expertise. Required

  • Registration in good standing of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • Valid liability insurance as defined by the CMRITO.
  • Strong clinical judgement with proven decision making and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and imaging technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
  • Ability to manage the physical demands of the role.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts, including weekends, STAT holidays and on call coverage.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Duties

  • Perform a full range of Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with professional standards, departmental protocols and best practices.
  • Complete quality assurance procedures in alignment with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct radiation safety activities, including area wipe tests, contamination monitoring and decontamination.
  • Receiving and handling of radiopharmaceuticals including maintaining inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and supplies to support daily operations.
  • Accurately archive and retrieve imaging data within PACS.
  • Identify and report equipment issues or deficiencies to the Charge Technologist or Manager.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals as directed by the Nuclear Medicine Physician.
  • Support the orientation and training of new technologists.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality improvement and excellence in patient care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support high quality diagnostic services.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and Diagnostic Imaging practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MacIntosh Cancer Clinic. BGH works closely with the other three Quinte Health hospital teams, as well as regional and provincial health centres to serve our communities.
