Sr Support Engineer, Data& Analytics Operations (Cloud/Data Warehouse)

The Data &Analytics team provides support for:
- On Premise applications, to maintain and support processes in multiple Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence, Data Integration applications
- In the Cloud technologies, utilizing AWS for Enterprise Data Lake (EDL)
The Support Engineer on the Data & Analytics Operations team, is responsible for safeguarding our client’s data, by providing superior operational support both on premise and in the Cloud.
Essential skills
- Mainframe development experience is required to support the transition from project implementation to operational support
- Knowledge and experience with the tools to support several Data Warehouses (DW), from data ingestion to data consumption
- Technical and analytical abilities required to design, build, and maintain centralized repositories for historical and analytical data
- Ability to understand the code logic to analyze and troubleshoot data consumption issues for Sun Life clients as well as be able to fix or enhance code on a daily basis
- Be able to write complex SQL queries, joins, and stored procedures to manipulate and analyze data.
- Experience building and supporting ETL processes, data integration and pipelines
- Good business intelligence application experience to design, analyze, and format reports for clients
- Experience with Batch Operations including schedulers, failures and recovery
- Excellent analytical skills to dive into the processes we support to resolve complex data discrepancies or job failures
- ITIL knowledge for incident, problem and change management policies and processes
- Create and maintain superb technical documentation that will help support our poly-skilled team
- Excellent communication skills to support Project Teams, Operation teams and vendors
- Continuously monitor our environments to identify and implement operational improvement
- Posses an owner’s mindset which is critical to the success of the team
Education
If you have a background or education in Computer or Data Science, Engineering, Software Development or IT Application/Technical support, this role may be for you.
Technical Experience required to succeed in this role:
2+ years experience developing in:
- Mainframe: TSO, ZEKE, JCL, COBOL
- ETL: Informatica, IDMC (Informatica Cloud), Master Data Management (MDM), AWS Glue
- Business Intelligence (BI): SAP Tools (Crystal, Universe Design)
- AI: GitHub Copilot

- AWS experience or certifications
- DevOps tools

Unique Requirements:
- As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life.
- This role requires 24x7 support on a rotational basis and is subject to Over Time.
