Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a global leader in aerospace innovation, proudly headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, since 1928. We design and manufacture next‑generation aircraft engines that power the world’s largest fleet of business, general aviation, regional aircraft, and helicopters. For nearly 100 years, our teams have been at the forefront of propulsion technology, pushing boundaries to make flight more efficient and reliable.

Within Pratt & Whitney Canada, the Test Facilities Engineering team is responsible for the design, development, commissioning, and continuous improvement of test cells and test systems for all engine families and their components. These facilities play a critical role in engine development, certification, and performance validation prior to delivery to customers.

Position Overview

As part of a multidisciplinary team of electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians, and technical designers, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced electrical and automated systems supporting next‑generation engine programs and test facilities.

What will your day‑to‑day look like?

  • Lead the research, development, design, integration, and validation of electrical and automation systems while ensuring alignment with technical requirements, project objectives, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop innovative solutions for engine test facilities and automated test benches.
  • Analyze technical requirements, operational constraints, costs, schedules, and customer needs to assess project feasibility and define optimal solutions.
  • Design and specify electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and automation architectures for industrial applications.
  • Coordinate and oversee the manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, modification, and troubleshooting of electrical and automated systems.
  • Develop project schedules and support budget planning to ensure successful project execution within established timelines and cost targets.
  • Support the integration and implementation of new technologies across test systems and facilities.
  • Participate in technical reviews, project meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions to present recommendations, findings, and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations throughout all project phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical systems, automation, or industrial engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley).
  • Experience with HMI programming (Wonderware InTouch).
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and databases.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical building codes and standards.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting experience with industrial systems.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine test cells or aerospace testing environments.
  • Experience with MS Project.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in schedule‑ and budget‑driven environments.

What will make you stand out?

  • You are passionate about electrical engineering and motivated by technically challenging projects.
  • You thrive in fast‑paced environments where collaboration, innovation, and execution are key.
  • You are resourceful, solution‑oriented, and comfortable taking initiative when facing complex technical challenges.
  • You communicate confidently and effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • You are driven by quality, pay close attention to detail, and take pride in delivering reliable, high‑performing solutions.
  • Most importantly, you enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and sharing your passion for engineering excellence.

This position has been designated as “onsite,” with regular in‑person work at our premises located in Mississauga, Ontario.

What do we offer?

  • Pension and savings plan with employer contributions.
  • Group insurance program.
  • Opportunities for advancement (career progression).
  • Merit or recognition program.
  • Health and wellness program, including virtual health care.
  • Recreational and sports club.
  • Nearby daycares.
  • Transportation accessibility or public transit program and free parking.

The salary range for this role is 101,500 CAD - 151,500 CAD.

Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of these checks and obtaining the required clearances. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of the employment offer.
