Emergency Department - Full Time / Part Time & Locum Opportunities
Pembroke Regional Hospital, Pembroke, ON
Located one and a half hours west of Ottawa, situated on the shores of the Ottawa River, close to Algonquin Park, Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) delivers a broad range of services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Our hospital provides an array of acute, post-acute, outpatient, diagnostic and specialist services including CT, Hospitalist program, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, MRI, Psychiatry, Ob/Gyn, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Urology, as well as an Inpatient Rehabilitation program.
About our ED:
- 30K + annual visits
- 40 hours of physician coverage per day combined between the main ED and fast track
- Supplementary earning opportunities: additional ER hours, surgical assists
- PRH is designated as underserviced, physicians may qualify for Ministry incentives
With state-of-the-art services and associated technologies in place, PRH has earned a strong reputation as a teaching hospital; currently holding affiliation agreements with the University of Ottawa’s faculties of Medicine and Nursing, Algonquin College and the Department of Defence. Our hospital is a designated District Stroke Centre with a neurologist on-call 24/7 via telemedicine. The ED/ICU is staffed by a multi‑disciplinary team of nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists; as well as social services, pastoral care, crisis intervention, speech, occupational and physio therapists. We have well established referral protocols with local tertiary care centres 1.5 hour away in Ottawa.

Requirements
Position Requirements
(Candidates with similar work experience may be considered on an individual basis)
- Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Certified with FRCP(C) in Emergency Medicine or CCFP (EM)
- Emergency Experience; current ACLS, ATLS and (PALS preferred)
- Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
